"Mon cherie, I don't need to slip anything." Matt arched an eyebrow a little, eyes dragging down from her face to roam across what he could see without bending his head.
"If you're here, it was by choice," he continues, looking back up at her with a serious look in his eyes. It could have been the opium, he supposes. No telling the tolerance levels of these younger sorts nowdays but he wasn't exactly sure if they'd done that particular ride or not. Something else that wasn't new.

Fortunately for him, fragments of the previous evening were starting to come back to her in quick flashes and it had her completely distracted to the point her tight hold on the knife she held slowly began to loosen. She shook her head, obviously remembering and feeling somewhat embarrassed and angry with herself. It was so rare that she allowed that kind of behavior.
Moving her other hand to collect the blade, she tossed it onto the table beside the bed and sighed without moving off him.
“Matthew.” Natasha spoke, remembering his name now. “So, how much of it is your doing?”

"Only the encouragement to follow what was already going on in your head. I seem to have that effect on people," he said matter of factly. Yes, there would always be that brash confidence but that didn't stop it from being true.

"I'll take no blame for the amount that was imbibed last night. That at least isn't my fault."

"It wasn't that much," she told him, moving a hand down to his side where her own fingers brushed against his ribs. "I know my limits."
