"My planet did not have a name. The Doctor said my people, the Sevateem, were descended from explorers." Really, Leela hadn't paid much attention to that. It had been part of one of the Doctor's many ramblings about this or that. But it was relatively easy to discern Leela was descended from human explorers from Earth, therefore she was from a point in the future.

"Oh? Oh, hello." He smiles brightly, and his voice is anything but discreet. Covert is not in his nature. "I'm hoping to."

"Care to share with the class?" Her brows lift, expression saying she's intrigued.

"I don't know," she says honestly, lifting her shoulders in a half shrug. "I cannot explain this. Every particle of my being demands rational and an explanation, but unfortunately, there is none. I can come up with nothing save that it had to do with my arrival here."

Being so small, so tiny like this -- it was equal parts terrifying and fascinating.

Good thing I don't really have much to get back to, then. Just class and a potential Fields Medal, but I suppose those can wait.

So what did you do back in Beacon Hills?

I'm a student. [sweetly said.] And every now and then, my otherwise normal life becomes just this side of hellish. But that doesn't really count as something I 'do'.

[Angel would bet money that it would be a life long pattern with her. But that's not his place to say.]

Senior year?

[oh, without a doubt. One does not simply walk away from Banshee Powers.]

Not yet. But that doesn't mean I can't spend every waking moment making sure that I keep my solid As, and get into my number one school of choice.

Only if I might say that The Time Machine has been one of my favorite stories ever since I was a little girl.

[While her grilled cheese sandwich still hasn't materialized, another drink has; fortunately, she's decided to sip this one, or else it probably wouldn't have been long before she was trying to find something for Wells to autograph.]

My doctorates are in biology and particle physics. Which actually is not as much of a leap as it sounds like - my dissertation in the former was on the mathematical modeling of swarm intelligence. It hasn't aged as well as I would've liked.

Depends on what you're putting it up against. And the experience that comes with it.

But that's only until you're 30. Then it doesn't matter anymore.

So until I'm 30, everyone else here is just going to look at me like I'm a baby, and coo in delight at my lack of life experience?

No. Hopefully, they'll help you learn and enhance the experience you'd be having.

Just because you're a highschooler doesn't mean you're dumb or incapable. Just.. rash and inexperienced.

But not everyone here is that optimistic or helpful.

I personally prefer to take the high road of intelligence; it's everyone else around me who has rash and inexperienced covered. You should see Scott. He practically defines it.

She closed her eyes for a moment and when she opened them she was smiling again.

And that's when she pounced. Slow-motion and deliberate with every step screaming she was about to go in for a hug and he better dodge the hell out of the way now if he wasn't going to accept it.

"You can't even begin to believe how fucking happy I am you're here."
