"I was on a boat," the soft in his speech almost sounds like he's replaying the memory for himself as much as he might be relaying information to her. "They called it the Charon. Had a ghost crew that was just as captive as us. Group called COMPASS. Did experiments to study fear."

"Sounds bad. Things happen here, but it's not a focused topic. Keeps you on your toes though."

"It's always the people that matter." Yeah, it wasn't pleasant but some part of him thinks about the people he knew. Chief and Wesley. Sheva, Trish... wherever she went. It was a lot of adjusting at first but eventually he almost came to like it. The people. People he related to. People who understood. He wasn't a monster or exceptional he was just another soldier and that was almost comforting.

"Hope so," he takes a moment. "I'd hate to be bored." And another. "What can you tell me about Tristan. I mean, no offence to the people that live like this but I don't exactly swing that way."

"I wouldn't know," she remarked back. 'People' was not her thing. Connections, perhaps, people, not so much.

"Don't worry. Tristan doesn't want any of us. The parameters that the Grasp runs on doesn't include a check box for what we're got downstairs." Blunt, but honest.

Leonard huffed, giving the fluffy white creature a jaundiced look before moving off to find anyone who knew where the hell this was, and why the hell he was there, and would they kindly unscramble communications so he could be beamed back to where he belonged, thank you?

Currently, I'm just an outworlder who's bouncing around the multiverse. For about six years. Before that, I was just an artist.

[She gives a half shrug. The idea of home wasn't a thing she had.]

I'm going to assume that's not exactly sarcasm...

When I left it was doing cover art for shitty short sci-fi novels. I stick with paint, mostly and sketch. I've sculpted a couple of times. At whatever I want to, I guess.

Whatever strikes my fancy.

Hm. [the sound is abrupt in that way that suggests she's humouring him; it's accompanied by a tight little smile that seems almost amused in a way that he wouldn't understand.] I suppose.

As Jax makes his way out of the row, he takes a cigarette from the pack in his shirt pocket and lights it up.
