No, it isn't.

[she pauses for a moment, merely eyeing the fish a moment or two longer before flicking her gaze to Tall, Dark, and Handsome over here. Little bit old for her, though; she's sort of reminded of Peter, but in a slightly less creepy way.

[Lydia's smile is slightly tight, and she crosses her arms over her chest before she goes on:] But then again, I was getting sort of sick of what I do see every day, so I suppose the change is much needed.

[He glances down at her as she speaks. Good, she hasn't hit him or accused him of anything yet. New faces tended to do that.]

My boyfriend turned into a giant killer lizard, and half the lacrosse team are werewolves. [said dryly. She won't hit him unless he gives her reason to. The tunnels are big enough that she could probably just walk away from him easily enough anyway.]

[Angel kept his deadpan look but his gaze stays on her at her statement. Sounded like Demons and Werewolves.]

That sounds.... exciting.

[her tone is light, as though they're talking about something...not demonic / werewolf-ish. Like the weather.] Something like that.

You don't seem all that bothered by being surrounded by all this. [she nods to the fish.]

[Her casualness about it suggested that she was used to strange things happening. Buffy had the same kind of dismissal when it irritated her. Angel looks back out into the water.]

I'm not. I've been underwater before. Not in a structure like this, but a submarine..

[And a year in his future, he'd do three and a half months on the ocean floor in a steel box]

You don't seem all that bothered by it either. You're new, right?

[tossed into strange things, more like. Particularly without any warning. It's not very good for her mental health.]

A submarine makes more sense than an entire city. I can't imagine there's a whole lot of these.

By my count, I've been here about two hours. Yes. I'm new. [she eyes him with slightly wide eyes, like she's trying to figure out what he's getting at.] How long have you been here?

Well it helps that we're not in the same universe. There's no telling how many there are.

{Angel shrugged. He wasn't getting at anything, just asking.]

About two months.

No sweeping declarations of how you're needed at home, or how your mom is going to miss you, huh? That's usually the favorite choices.

There aren't any maps around here? [she looks a little sceptical. And also a little amused by the entire thing. Her smile is slightly less tight, and her eyes are slightly less wide.]

Hm. [interesting. Lots of time. Sort of weird. Oh well.]

I'm not. Someone else can find the dead bodies for once, as far as I'm concerned.

[and with that, a flick of red hair over her shoulder!]

None that are worth anything.

[Just as dead pan and serious as before. He finds it kind of ironic though that she says someone else can find the dead bodies, when she's standing right next to one.]

Is that a common thing for you then? Coming across dead bodies?

[Lydia just wrinkles her nose in a delicate gesture before sighing a little.] I'd just ask someone, then. We're definitely not alone here, I've noticed that much.

[cue a mermaid going by. Hey, mermaid.

[And he didn't just die; that's good enough for her.] More common than you'd think, considering I'm from a small town in California. I think half the town's dead by now.

Not here, no.

[He tracks the mermaid, who flashed him a sultry grin and a wiggle of her fingers before swimming... one could say coyly, away. He was a pretty man, who's brow pinches a little at her description.]

Small towns in California have a habit of doing that. Ever heard of Sunnydale?

So. Has anyone bothered asking yet?

[...hey. Mermaid. Get your own buddy. She's chatting to him right now.]

No. But I assume you're bringing it up for a reason. More dead people there?

Not if there are any more underwater cities, no. There are other people on the plant. Other cities.

[Don't fight it, even the Fates swoon at Angel.]

Lots of dead people. It was on a Hellmouth.. Apparently, a Slayer closed it and Sunnydale is a crater..

[Something that he'd recently learned and he let the title Slayer loose, in hopes that maybe it would clue him in on her stance on Fangs.]

I'm Angel, by the way.

Since no one told me I couldn't go up to the surface - which they usually do in the case of a nuclear disaster or poor atmosphere - I sort of gathered that much. Not to mention that people usually go underground instead of underwater when apocalypses hit.

{Lydia Martin swoons for no man.]

A Hellmouth? [tell her all your words, sir. She needs to bring these back to the park. When she gets back, at least. Sadly, though the word 'slayer' brings about the same connotations - slayer is to vampires as hunter is to werewolves - she's got other things on her mind. Not to mention she's never met a vampire before. Not yet, at least.]

[She just hasn't been subject to Angel's charms.]

That's because you can't go to the surface anyway, even if you wanted to. Yeah, Hell mouth. Mouth of hell. Kind of a hot spot for demons and other nasty things.

[He nodded his acknowledgement.]

And there aren't dead bodies here, but we get some weird stuff.

[she challenges him to do his worst.]

How'd you get here, then? [seriously. She's curious.]

Hm. I don't think that's what Beacon Hills is, thankfully. It's just a beacon for weird.

[Challenge not accepted, as Angel wouldn't.]

Sea Tunnel. They closed it off after we arrived.

[He'd never heard of Beacon Hills so they were even. Angel pauses, considering what example to give her.]

I was turned into a puppet once.

[...give her a second. And then those neat little eyebrows are going up.] A puppet. You're kidding, right? Did a rabid marionette bite you or something?

Some island. The last place we were in was a Temple in the sky.

[He smirked at the eyebrows.]

I wish. They had a lot of gardens and one had a flower that caused some kind of change. I had a .... severe reaction to it.

You took a direct tunnel into the sea from a temple in the sky. [w o w]

No kidding. What was it, some kind of horrific breed of hallucinogen? You definitely don't look like a puppet right now, so I'm going to assume they managed to fix you.

No. From the Temple we came to that island. From the island, we came here via sea tunnel.

[That was best he could do for explanation. If she misunderstood, well, there wasn't much that he could do about it. He glanced down at himself as she mentions how he looks, as though he was checking to make sure he was still 'put together'.]

Unfortunately, no. Not a hallucinogen, I was physically changed. Some of the Candidates went around and figured it out, and how to fix everyone. It worked.

Sounds convoluted.

[she just shrugs! It doesn't really matter that much anyway, and she's pretty sure she can find something more on that if she really looks.]

So what was the solution?

You could say that.

Touching the same flower that changed us. Kind of simple sounding, until you realize that there was an endless number of gardens people had to go through to find which one was the 'magical' one.

It was.. interesting.

Equally convoluted. So everything about Niflheim basically leads back to difficult solutions for strange problems that probably shouldn't have come up in the first place. Is that about right?
