[Lydia's seen enough of those too, thanks to Jackson. Those exceedingly rare times when she couldn't convince him to watch the Notebook for the umpteenth time, that is.

[She, of course, recognises the song for what it is, and immediately arches her brows, glancing over to her apparent companion with an expression that reads equal parts amusement and reproach.]

I haven't seen a single shark out there in the ten minutes I've been standing here.

That's good. Because part of me thinks that if there is, that they'd be a fuck of a lot more scarier.

[Caius doesn't look at her, just keeps his eyes on the passing fish.]

Maybe. Maybe not. I'm more concerned about who else the Grasp has brought through than I am random shark attacks. They're not nearly as common as people think. Especially given how much effort it would take to break through this glass.

Judging by the lights on in each of the barracks, I'd say a few. [he points to each side, each of the floors more than half lit up. Caius shrugs.] You're probably right, but I bet it won't be the first, or last time someone thinks it. It's a common fear.

Oh, I know. But common or not, that doesn't change the fact that it's more likely someone will go crazy and pull a serial killer on us all before a shark starts taking people out. Unless it suddenly grows legs, at least. But I'd be more concerned about why it grew legs.

You think the powers that be around here would enlist a candidate that might crack under the pressure? Wouldn't be the first time I've seen it happen. And as far as the legs, well we are in a different universe. Anything is possible.

You never know. I didn't see them do any sort of psychological evaluation before we got let out amongst the public.

The Nysgods might. But the walking sharks? Somehow, I doubt that they're quite evolved enough to be able to do something like that.

Well, we're not exactly in Kansas anymore, Dorothy. I really wouldn't put anything past a place like this.

[He grins, but his expression is a bit baffled.]

Then how would you know a serial killer situation hasn't happened yet?

Hm. [the sound is abrupt in that way that suggests she's humouring him; it's accompanied by a tight little smile that seems almost amused in a way that he wouldn't understand.] I suppose.

Which is obviously taking them a while, if they only bring a handful in every time. There's definitely a less time-consuming way of doing it, and it probably involves less dissent, too.

Probably, and that might work if they were grabbing whoever, but I think it's something specific they're looking for.
