David wouldn't say that it was fun to watch people. He was too preoccupied with the same things that Devi noticed. It came to him naturally. He could sit on a park bench and know where someone was heading, what they were doing, who they were. The step in their walk said they inured; said they were nervous; said they were upset; said they were ambivalent to everything the world was. Subtle creases in their brows. Did they watch where they were going? Were they looking around? How alert was their eyes?

He could almost tell what people were thinking just by their body language. Normal people weren't suppose to be able to do that. He was human. He slept, he ate, he bled. All he really wanted to be was human. Average. But he wasn't.

Everything about him was exemplary as far as to-the-bone-human was concerned. Including reflexes; hand catching the tiny object like he knew it was coming and then his eyes meet her. His walk says calm, steady, too-alert.

"Is that usually how you get people's attention?" A hand unfolds the candy and the tone itself isn't accusing or caustic. Even.

Her lips purse in an Oh with a quirk of her eyebrows and curl into a small one sided smirk. Always happy to be proven right. Her frame was relaxed as he came towards her, one ankle resting on top of a knee and green eyes glancing at the blue little prize. Devi was amused and utterly unapologeticly apathetic at her action.

"Yes." Simple honest answer. "You looked... confused."

"Interesting method," he doesn't sound irritated, though. Instead, he plops the candy in his mouth and takes a seat. "I am. Do you have answers?"

"Better then shouting 'Hey You'. And it depends on what your questions are." Her gaze continued to track him as he sat down before flicking back out among the people. Her methods give her more then just an out of normality; him catching the skittle was proof enough of that.

"Only if you're looking for something specific." He looks back at her for a long moment but lets the statement hang where it was.

"Let's start with the Nysgod. Who are they? This isn't the first time I've taken a trip to another plane." If still felt weird to say that and for a moment there's a crease in his brow. No, he remembers. He wasn't near Langley last. He was... it was a city. With the people from the boat before. Charon. He remembers that name.

He was smart. Devi hadn't had specifics, left it open to any possibility that would be presented on it's own. After all, you focus on one thing, you're libel to miss something else.

"They're just another race of people. Granted they read minds and shadow travel.. Powerful people, but still..." Still predictable within their limits. "The Grasp seems to be getting a taste of world hoppers," she commented, almost off-handedly.

"It's not like I ask for it," he replies. He knows the tricks. Subtle hints. He wouldn't call it smart. Programming. Instinct. Hell. He leans back and crosses one arm over his shoulder and the other brushes over his chin and mouth in thought. Mind readers and shadow walkers. He'd never run in to those before.

He lets out an exhale. "So it's the same old. Move on along until something happens." A break. "You're one too. Not your first time?"

"No one ever does." Insightful then.

His assessment was basically right and his question considered with a pause. "Nope. This is only the second plane I've been stuck in." Not to say anything of the other planes she's freely moved through.

"Nice catch, by the way."

You'll come to find that David isn't someone to brag unless needed for intimidation tactics. He's an extremely humble individual when it comes that 'talents'. Call it what you want. It's just how he is.

"Thanks," its honest, but it comes with no additional information. "Where was your first? I mean, if you don't mind me asking."

Devi bobs her head in welcome, fingers dipping into her candy bag to pop one into her mouth.

"A street much more chaotic then this. This place isn't half bad, all things considered. What about you?"

[treadstone]

"I was on a boat," the soft in his speech almost sounds like he's replaying the memory for himself as much as he might be relaying information to her. "They called it the Charon. Had a ghost crew that was just as captive as us. Group called COMPASS. Did experiments to study fear."

"The boat the ferries the dead across the River Styx," she muttered quietly to herself, finding the ghost crew appropriate and the whole COMPASS idea something she could see one Dr Weasker doing. And well.

"Sounds bad. Things happen here, but it's not a focused topic. Keeps you on your toes though."

"It's always the people that matter." Yeah, it wasn't pleasant but some part of him thinks about the people he knew. Chief and Wesley. Sheva, Trish... wherever she went. It was a lot of adjusting at first but eventually he almost came to like it. The people. People he related to. People who understood. He wasn't a monster or exceptional he was just another soldier and that was almost comforting.

"Hope so," he takes a moment. "I'd hate to be bored." And another. "What can you tell me about Tristan. I mean, no offence to the people that live like this but I don't exactly swing that way."

"I wouldn't know," she remarked back. 'People' was not her thing. Connections, perhaps, people, not so much.

"Don't worry. Tristan doesn't want any of us. The parameters that the Grasp runs on doesn't include a check box for what we're got downstairs." Blunt, but honest.
