Me too!
Your parents were science fiction fans, I take it?
[She doesn't think anything of it just yet - after all, unusual, strange, and absurd pseudonyms and codenames are just par for the course in her line of work. Her boyfriend had, for the moment, won the stupid Containment Team handle contest - which was a real thing, meant to help discredit any leaked Foundation records - by naming the one he headed up Whimsical.]

One might say my father was, but that is not why I was named that. Helena Georgia does not have the ring to it that H.G. Wells does. Besides, it was my brother's way of giving me credit for my work when the entire world believed he was H.G. Wells.
[She scoffed and sipped her scotch.]

[It takes a few seconds for the information to click; it has quite a bit of alcohol to filter its way through, after all.]
So you're the H. G. Wells, then. That is excellent. It's an honor to meet you.
no subject
I am, yes. It is a pleasure to meet you. [Helena smiled that thousand-watt pride-tinged smile of hers.]
Might I inquire as to what you are a doctor of?

[While her grilled cheese sandwich still hasn't materialized, another drink has; fortunately, she's decided to sip this one, or else it probably wouldn't have been long before she was trying to find something for Wells to autograph.]
My doctorates are in biology and particle physics. Which actually is not as much of a leap as it sounds like - my dissertation in the former was on the mathematical modeling of swarm intelligence. It hasn't aged as well as I would've liked.
no subject
Swarm intelligence? Intriguing. How has it not held up? [Helena was more than interested in talking science. She, too, received another drink to nurse along.]

So no doubt you've had to remodel your original hypothesis and subject your data to more testing as technology itself advances. In the time that has elapsed between your dissertation and the present moment, what elements of your work have stood up? [She had, of course, followed the description perfectly. Helena was not only science-oriented, but she was a genius and could follow such discussion quite easily.]

[She unconsciously fidgets just slightly with her prosthetic.]
I suppose there's no harm in anyone here knowing what I do. I design and implement containment and experimentation protocols for entities and objects which don't belong in my universe, but have ended up there anyway.
[Which is why she's one of the few people who actually prefers being here - she knows what it means, that things that don't belong in her reality keep finding a way in anyhow. It means it's only a matter of time before the world ends, and that's one party she doesn't want to be around for.]
no subject
[She had noticed the prosthetic, but she hadn't paid it much attention. She wasn't exactly the type to stare in such a fashion. Staring was rude, after all.]
Dangerous entities and objects, I would assume. You have my sympathies for your world having to endure such a fate. Has your work been successful in containing these foreign entities and objects?
[In a way, it sounds a bit like the Warehouse and Artifacts.]
