Sir Logan Foxwood | D&D Original Character

[personal profile] mostnobelknight 2013-12-09 09:17 am (UTC)(link)
He is distracted by the fish. They remind him of little paintings that he had seen as a boy during the years he trained. Back before the war, before he ended up being chosen as a Paladin.

Of a much more innocent time. He smiles to himself. It is rather nice to be able to think back to much less complicated times.

He is all for just enjoying everything when there is a sudden sharp pain. What is going on?

There is mocking haunting laughter echoing in the hall way and Sir Logan ends up on one knee clutching his side. He very rarely swears and desires to do so right now as he holds the injury.

"Come on out, you curr! I will not let thine cowardice go unanswered," the Paladin growls. He is positive he can hear the laughter bouncing off the walls. He will not be able to track them. He also is unsure if he has the strength of will to use some of the powers being a Paladin grants him as he is both very angry and unsure how safe he is.

It’s the faint haunting, mocking laughter, in time with the familiar prickle of warning, that sends Zoey running towards the barracks tunnel. She arrives to find a stranger kneeling on the floor, clutching at a wound. His growled words slow her, and she approaches carefully, hands held out in (what she hopes) is the universal sign for ‘I’m unarmed’ and ‘I come in peace’. She’s not particularly keen on earning a blade in her own ribs in attempting to aid him. But she refuses to just leave him there.

“I suspect they’re long gone by now,” she tells him, closing more of the distance between them, but still far enough away to avoid an attack. “Let me help you.”

"I expect thou art right, m'lady," Logan agrees in a crisp tone. He will not let go of his weapon.

If something tries to attack he wants to be able to fight back. He looks at Zoey then at his blade before slipping it back into it's sheath. He has no intention of frightening someone who is here to help him.

"I hope mine yelling did not frighten thee. I am most.... vexed at the curr who attacked me."
cordelisse: (walking away)

[personal profile] cordelisse 2013-12-09 09:57 am (UTC)(link)
Zoey doesn’t waste time crossing the space between them as soon as he sheathes his blade. She’ll be able to defend them both, should the need arise. Her gift gives her a bit of an advantage when it comes to such things. And he has a blade for her to use. It works out well.

She raises an eyebrow at him, an amused smile flickering across her face as she kneels beside him. “It takes far more than that to frighten me.” It was adorable that he was concerned about it, though. She reaches out for his injury, all business. “Let me take a look.” She doesn’t have much in the way of medical supplies with her, but she’s damn good at improvisation.

He used to use a long sword but found this lighter one was much better for him. For some reason he was much more effective with it. He knew it was not blessed by the gods and that it was only minor enchanted as the Dwarf had convinced him to get it, still he likes hitting his targets more frequently.

It allows him to defend his allies and charges better.

"Aye but it is not good manners to frighten someone," he supplies moving to lift his tunic for her to get a look.

He does not wince at the sight of his own blood. He has fought in a war and has battled monsters. Still the wound is bad and under normal circumstances would need stitches.

"It is not as bad as it looks. Do not let this worry thee. Doth thou have a cloth to clean it with first?" He likes to clean before he uses his extra abilities.

“Manners rarely enter into it if someone’s looking to frighten someone else. Yours have, so even if you had managed to frighten me, it would be an easily forgivable offence,” Zoey tells him. And what sort of manners they were; they, along with the way he spoke, made her realise that, in all likelihood, he was from someWHEN else as well as somewhere. Or his world was fashioned in such way that he would appear to be.

She frowns thoughtfully, studying his injury. “I’ve seen worse,” she murmurs absently, more focused on the task at hand than what she’s saying. She’s HAD much worse, for that matter. In answer to his question, she reaches for her boot, pulling a small dagger free. Thank fuck she’s wearing a skirt. She has plenty of extraneous material to work with. Using her dagger she cuts the fabric, coming away with a swath of it and making her skirt a handful of inches shorter.

Looking up at him, she grins. “I do now.”

He has to listen to follow her speech pattern a bit. She speaks differently than the women he has known. His sisters, as he recalls, sound much like he does. The youngest was born when he was nearly a man so he expects her speech is much less formal.

"My lady..." He gives her a slightly embarrassed look. He also knew that women like their clothes weather they were leggings, armor, or dresses. "Thou could have cut mine. It is already stained. I would not like to think that thou hast sacrificed a..."

Not a dress. "Skirt thou favors."

“It’s a skirt, Sir Paladin,” she tells him, not thinking about the fact that he hasn’t quite told her what he is yet, that the word has been provided courtesy of her gift, as it is wont to do. But she’s not thinking about that. Her focus is mostly on the injured man in front of her, and who could have attacked him. And whether or not they would return. “It’s not important.”

She’s leaning forward then, turning her attention to cleaning his injury. “It’s just fabric. Just cloth. And it was needed. So it was done.”

He feels confusion swim over his mind. He senses no evil from her. She seems a goodly sort. Perhaps she was a wizard or sorceress. That he could understand. He also did not truly hide what he was.

He even had decided that the Jedi are some sort of order of Holy Knight of a different vein from Paladins like himself. He had heard tale of Paladins who followed a code of conduct but knew of no god or goddess who granted their power.

"I prithee lady, how doth thou know I art a Paladin?"
cordelisse: (well THAT was unexpected)

[personal profile] cordelisse 2013-12-09 10:57 am (UTC)(link)
Fuckstockings. Well, it’s too late to take that word back. She’ll just have to deal with her slip of the tongue. Zoey laughs softly, turning ice blue eyes from his injury momentarily. “I have a gift for it, that’s all.” Which is putting it mildly, but she’s only just met him. There will be no talk of foresight, of seers and prophecy. Not yet. For all she knows Paladins believe seers are evil, to be killed on sight. There’s no telling, her research hasn’t focused on Paladins and their ilk, and despite her getting no sense that he would react strongly... she just doesn’t know.

Zoey has nothing to fear from Logan. The Paladin is well used to magic. It is not overly common in every village but common enough that he understands it. Now if she was using it to hurt people or dominate their minds he would object violently.

"Ah. Thou art a sorceress, then?"

He acts as if it is nothing. "Then what I art about to do will not trouble thee. Good. I would be unhappy if it made thee uncomfortable. I trry to avoid such things."

He places his hand over the cleaned cut. Something about his hand seems to glow. Most of the wound is sealed up by the time he pulls his hand away.

"Alas, the wound was longer and deeper than I can heal in one day. It will be better on the marrow."

Someone else came to admire the view. It reminds her of her time she spent under the sea, without the threat of the crushing pressure pressing down on her so great to make her structure buckle. She can enjoy the beauty of the deep blue sea without the worry that her crew of five hundred will be at risk. Unlike her this place was built to withstand the dangers of the ocean floor.

The moment was peaceful, swaying slightly to let the hem of her white dress brush against her thighs. For safety her feet were shod with boots and a black leather jacket kept the chill away.

But then the tranquility is broken when someone further down the tunnel starts yelling. She looks over at the stranger and the Enterprise is certain he is a complete stranger to her. It doesn't mean she'll ignore him. No, in fact, she leaves her chosen spot to venture closer. "Are you alright?"

"Nay," he moves his hand slightly.

"I am wounded but not so bad for us to need a... doctor?" The word is unfamilar to him. Science is still as mysterious as magic to the young Paladin. He thinks they are just really weird wizards who use different sorts of words.

"But I fear that the curr who stabbed me may be near. Take care, my lady. I would not like to see thee hurt."

She fights the urge to smile, mostly because she can't help but imagine what her Chief Medical Officer would say in such a situation.

"A doctor might disagree with you. Can I see the wound?" While the Enterprise was not a doctor - not in the way that others studied medicine, she would be able to tell if it was indeed in need of treatment.

"Let's hope that whoever it was doesn't take an interest in me, then."

"Aye, thou may," he allows shifting so that he can move the material of his clothing out of the way. He had not been in his half-plate armor or the work uniform the Nysgod's provided.

Today was supposed to be a rest day for him.

"I do not believe it is overly deep," he confesses. "I was... distracted by the attack. I may be able to heal some of the damage here."

A lay on hands should bring him up most of the way back to being perfectly healthy. He just was a bit shy of using it in front of someone who might not understand that he is a Paladin,

When given access to the wound, the Enterprise leans over to look at it. There's no touching as she only asked to see and she can be very literal at times. After inspecting it for a minute she straightens.

"It appears shallow. None of your organs would have been punctured."

His mention of being able to heal it have her eyes flicking up to his face. While science was dominant in her universe, there were quite a few things they might not be able to explain. Things that others would call magic.

"No need to hold back on my account. I'd be very interested in seeing your method of healing," she says with a deep-seeded curiosity.

"Aye, I did not think it was bad," the young man agrees watching her expression carefully.

At her words he nods.

"I doth not desire to make others uncomfortable." He inclines his head politely. "I thank thee for thine direct words."

He moves his hand which seems to light up over the wound. It closes up for the most part. It still looks like it will need a bandage as it is still bleeding a bit and is not entirely closed up.

"It wast deeper than mine art could heal. Tis not such a.... as you may say, a big deal. A bandage should fix the rest."

"Sometimes it is best to be direct." A thing she did quite often, actually. The art of being subtle was sometimes lost on her when she was so used to being straight-forward.

She watches the healing process with rapt fascination, shifting so as to get a better look at the wound closing instead of just a glowing light covered by his hand. The Enterprise's entire face lights up when it's over. "Amazing! I've never seen anything like it before." As much as she wants to question how it's done, she will help him attend to what remains of his wound.

Her eyes shift up to his face. "You're in luck as I happen to be carrying around this." With one hand she reaches into the jacket pocket and pulls out a large bandage. "I find I'm not entirely steady on my legs." So one may collapse beneath her and her knees are then scraped.

"Aye. It cuts away confusion," he agrees smiling briefly. He is a cheery sort.

While some of his companions irritated them he found he truly did enjoy their company. He would never admit that that bard would get far too smug. A very cheerful and smug Dwarf is a thing to be avoided Logan had decided. He did not want ale spilled on his boots again.

Logan is a bit of a neat freak. Having things spilled on him irritates him more quickly than the young wizard asking questions about women.

"Thou should take care not to hurt thine self," Logan said with a faint smile working back onto his face. "I would hate to see thee hurting."

As annoyed as he gets with his companions he feels the same way. Seeing them hurt bothers him. Like he failed.

"It ensures that the message does not get muddled and things get done much faster." Precision, she practically lived that way.

Spock was almost always one to say what he means directly while Bones was fond of his metaphors. Her Captain was a wild card, anywhere between blunt with words to completely mysterious. Sometimes it made her head spin with the various ways people spoke.

"Unfortunately that's not entirely in my control. I'm not quite used to my new legs just yet."

She holds up the bandage. "May I?"

"I agree with thee. Confusion just leads to needless fights," the Paladin says with a careful shrug. He prefers peace before fighting but he would have been a knight had the Goddess not called him to duty.

"Then.... this is a new shape for thee," Logan guesses. "Tis no matter. Thou art a kind lady. I am sure you were just as kind f your... true form."

He moves his hand so she can get to the wound. "As you will, my lady."

"It is. I'm not sure you'd believe me if I said what I was before," she admitted truthfully. How was anyone supposed to admit that they had been a ship that soared amongst the stars and be believed? The Enterprise looked up at him. "You are right about that. I would not turn my back on someone in need."

Not unless commanded to by her Captain and her Captain was not the sort to do that. In fact, Kirk often went against the Prime Directive to help people.

She knelt down, pulling apart the wrapper of the bandage. Once it was ready the Enterprise carefully placed it over the wound, pressing down on the edges to ensure that it was stuck. Once done she stood back up. "There. That should help."

"Aye, I would likely not. There is much that escapes reason. The fish are even like paintings though I see they breath and move," he admitted nodding towards a jewel toned fish. "I know of many things so this is a bit.... perplexing."

He had never seen a bandage like that before. The fact it sticks to his skin seems like a wonder.

"I thank thee. I did not know bandages did this. Tis a miracle."

"They're simply behind a piece of glass. One that was made to withstand the pressure of being underwater." She tapped on the glass which caused the fish to scatter.

The Enterprise smiled at him.

"One day humans will be able to do with science what you just did with...magic, is it? I'm interested to know about your abilities."
