That same thought had dawned him when he first arrived.

"Something is different." Peeta looked out across the ocean, then back at Katniss. "The Nysgods, they aren't gamemakers. They ... they aren't using us for amusement."

At least not that he could see.

"I've heard from other candidates that the Prince doesn't want a mate. That he's being forced into this as much as we are."

She didn't respond to it. As far as she could tell, she was being put on display once more. These Nysgod were no better than the Capital, but they were hardly up front in their designs as Snow was. "I never thought I would miss the frankness of that regime." She muttered, shaking her head.

"Well, that's a relief." It was hard to know what to say to this, to any of it. It was so surreal, but also so familiar. It was though the last few years of her life never happened. That they were facing yet another arena.

"No one else from Panem is here?" She asked.
