James T. Kirk | Star Trek Reboot
This is so boring. He hates this job so much. He should be back on the Enterprise. They were just getting ready for their five year mission. It was going to be great. He had been looking forward to getting out there.
Now instead of that he is here doing a stupid job he has no interest in. Watching paint dry comes to mind. That might be more interesting than some stupid busy work. He also can admit he is a little bit hungry on top of that. He had slept in and thinks he might offer to punch himself in the face if it gets him out of work and to a kitchen.
A grilled cheese sandwich might be nice. Or something else entirely Kirk can't decide he just knows he hates every agonizingly slow minute at this job.

That is until the man drops something on the ground. "Whoops, silly me!" He says, overly happy, ducking under the table...
...And there may be a quiet beeping noise.
no subject
He can't stop thinking about where he wants to be. Where he thinks he should be.
Then his stomach gurgles. God. He should have at least had an apple earlier. He regrets that now. This will make work miserable on top of boring.
no subject
Yeah, he is too happy. Is it an act? Maybe.
Either way, the Doctor sits back up and continues working, humming something that sounds classical.
no subject
He knows that urge is a little unnatural. He had gotten over his punch everything phase a few years ago. He was working very hard to be a better man. What is wrong with him?
"Yeah but being that happy is just unnatural. No one does that."
no subject
He hums a few more bars, finishing his one lava lamp.
"Studies show that being happy reduces the likelihood of stress-related illnesses."
no subject
"Sex works for stress relief just fine."
What is he? Twenty-one again? He has no idea why he is being such a shit right now. He still doesn't like this guy.
no subject
Yes, he's a hologram. No, he's not revealing that just yet. The Mobile Emitter on his arm can be explained away.
He drops another peice and ducks back under the table again...
no subject
Now he is curious. The guy isn't a Vulcan. He still feels like being a shit but less like he has stepped back in time five years.
"Have trouble getting it up?.... Can't find your type?"
He shouldn't wonder what anyone's type is when he barely knows them. He just feels like being a pain while he puts the lamp together.
no subject
He pokes his head up and fixes Kirk with a pointed look.
"We're at work."
Duh.
no subject
He smirks as he finishing screwing a part in place. The lamp is almost ready. Needs a few final touches.
"We're just talking. It would be different if it wasn't just that.... No offense but you're not my type."
He prefers ladies. Men don't do anything for him.
no subject
He sits back up, starting work again.
"For me, personality is also a key."
There may be some heavy implications in his tone right there.
no subject
"I'm not really able to commit. I'm upfront about that."
He learned his lesson. He knows he isn't emotionally mature enough. "Trying to avoid hurt feelings is important."
He tests the lamp. Good it works. He moves it over to the rows of lamps finished today and grabs fresh parts.
"Hey pal, you need any fresh parts?"
no subject
And another part gets dropped. Under the table again.
He's saying nothing about feelings, he's not one to preach, after all.
no subject
He shrugs then moves to set up the parts so they are at least in order as he works.
"Sorry if I'm being an ass. Woke up on the wrong side of the bed, I guess. Plus..."
Why is he talking? "I ran into some people I know. Only they're different. Like their genders got swapped."
Mostly. "Except for my XO. It's weird."

"One would think that the Nysgods had better things to build than lava lamps and jewelry." The tasks were mind-numbing. "They could at least build something interesting. Or work on the tasks we wanted to instead."
The Enterprise tilts her head as she finds an odd-shaped part before throwing it over her shoulder. It would be more effective without that particular piece anyway.
no subject
That would be better than this. He feels cut off from things.
"Thanks," he quirks a smile up a the lovely woman. She feels so damn familiar to him. Someone forgot to tell him about his ship who is a lady.
no subject
While she did enjoy having something to do she would much rather have a choice about it.
"You're welcome, Captain," the Enterprise grins back at him.
no subject
Her response has him raise his eyebrows slightly.
"I know you." He is so sure of this. He knows he hasn't seen her here before but he knows her. He just knows it.
no subject
That grin only grows wider at his words.
"You do, though I look completely different from the last time we saw each other." She stops putting together the lamp and turns completely towards him. "I'm not a crew member but am a member of Starfleet and serve you directly, our first encounter was in Riverside."
no subject
They never had sex. He knows that.
"Riverside?" His eyebrows furrow in thought. That night had been intense. Then he had gone to the ship yard. He remembers a lot from that trip.
Oh. He looks up as he tightens a screw.
"You're the Enterprise somehow. Nysgod technology?"
no subject
No, they never had sex. Sex was a curious passing thought to her, one she would like to try eventually. Though he may (most definitely) find her in his bed in the future.
The Enterprise is quiet as he puzzles out the answer, the realization evident to her before he even says a word.
"I am. However, we have yet to discover how it's possible."
no subject
The fact he knows what she is right away just puzzles him. He guesses this is because he almost died to save her and the crew she carried. He would have died if his command crew wasn't filled out with brilliant people.
He owes Nyota one. If she wants an awesome shore leave with Spock someday he'll help make it happen.
"Well anything is possible eventually."
no subject
So it was not unreasonable or illogical to say that she had missed her Captain's presence here. He had been such a big part of her life ever since the day they went to Vulcan. That meant it was perfectly sane to be glad to have him here, even if it meant he too was trapped.
"Eventually. The Nysgods seem to have technology beyond ours yet here we are, making more lava lamps than any species could possibly need."
I mean because ... lol
The haircut, the ears, the complete lack of expression. Everything screams Vulcan.
That's when she makes eye contact, and the faintest twitch in her eyebrow follows a type of recognition. But Spock dismisses it. She's never seen the man in her life, why would he seem familiar?
