"Oh. Yes. It's a thing I do." As well as being highly irritating. But... "Civilization. Now there's an interesting idea. What's your definition of civilization?"

That empty canteen doesn't sound so good, so Alec offered him a bottle of water. He just yanked it out of nowhere. Literally.

Not eating a grilled cheese sandwich, but definitely sitting on a rock and being harassed by a small kitten, is a guy who looks like he probably belongs to a castle more than most people. Well, at least he's got pointy ears and a sword. Which is probably more castle related than most people. The kitten is prowling around and trying to destroy the guy's shoelaces.

"Go... bugger off you little monster..." the guy growls before sneezing hard.

[acapellas]

She's sorry, she just... She's just so glad he's here.

She leans against him and looks down at the kitten, then back over to him with a little frown. "I don't know. He was just here." She shoves him with her shoulder and smiles a little because of the stew comment. "We should fatten him up a little first."

No, she doesn't believe he would cook it.

They do enjoy some odd dietary habits. Croup's love of ancient pottery is the strangest of all.

"No one tolerates them, because they don't need anyone to. They got into the House Without Doors. They can go wherever they like." Instead of wringing her hands, or anything equally as panicky, she reaches up to the kitten, something alive.

Door, being rather tiny and thin, nearly tumbles to the ground, but having the panicky woman, and a kitten depending on her staying with both feet planted on the ground, she manages to stumble, but not fall.

"Ow!" She doesn't avoid responding to the pain in her arm. As for the kitten, it digs it's claws into her shoulder. "Watch it, Supper." It's the name of the kitten.

"I'm sorry, I don't hear anything."

[overdraws]

Funnily enough, Allison doesn't seem phased by zombies. Werewolves and evil druids exist, why not the walking dead?

"Some kind of apocalypse?" She breaks off a piece of the dried meat and chews on it thoughtfully.

[acapellas]

Beth nibbles at a few nuts and shrugs her shoulders. "Something got out. Something the government made. We're all infected." She pauses to take a few more bites. "We don't even have to be bitten, if we die we come back a monster."

[overdraws]

"You're kidding!" Allison? Looks horrified. Appropriately so. "That's... That's awful!"

Reminds him a bit of Mr. Tulip... /Discworld references.

"Mm... I suppose so. But I think you'd be safe enough here. The people that brought you here want you alive. And I think if they can bring someone like yourself here, they could probably keep someone like them out." He honestly doesn't think that the whatevertheyares would appreciate someone trying to eat their consort potentials very much.

OH YAY SOMEONE'S PAYING ATTENTION TO ME!!! The kitten is happy to be petted and licks her fingers.

She pauses with a pinch of berries between her fingers, and turns to look at her new 'friend', her tone is solemn and serious. "I wish I was, then maybe-- maybe I'd still have my family, and my friends."

He's glad she's here as well, at least if he's got to be here. Particularly given that he feels like he needs to take care of her considering when he's coming from. She doesn't have any reason to apologize.

Daryl smirks and bumps her shoulder back. "Might be able to make a meal out of him if we let grow up a little."

Daryl leans over, scooping the kitten up by the scruff of the neck, holding it up and looking at it a moment.

"You allergic?"

Another sneeze. "Yes. Annoyingly."

The kitten meeps pathetically. HOW COULD THIS HUMAN HATE HIM!?!

"I hear cat tastes a little like raccoon." She jokes, glancing over at him with a that little smile on the corners of her lips.

"I named him after you." She chuckles to herself and looks down at her lap and the kitten. "I thought I was going to be alone without you and... I wanted-- I thought if he was going to keep me company...."

She trails off feeling nine kinds of silly and childish.

The kitten on her shoulder is not going to be turned over to DEATH no matter how much he CAPSLOCKS EVERYTHING. /Another reference.

"Intending on keeping people safe doesn't mean it will happen." And from here she can't find out the whys and whos is regards to the death of her family.

"Supper," she says, not bothering to explain she's decided to call the kitten that, and not a suggestion, as she lets the thing try and catch her fingers.

Death wouldn't take him anyway. /yet another reference.

"No. If that were true, there would be a lot fewer injured small children in the world." Smile?

Supper meeps at this.

Alec raises his eyebrows briefly. "Are you Naming the poor thing?" That's definitely a capital there.

Well, Supper's nothing so special as a tube worm. /One more for good measure.

"Fewer dead children," briefly, she pauses, looking inward only to find a gaping hole, where a once solid Door would be.

Having a practical question to answer is easier. "I don't speak cat, so Supper will have to do and so Supper's true name can stay hidden."

Alec sticks his hands into his pockets and rocks on his heels briefly.

"I know someone who can speak cat. He's got a teleporting cat familiar." There's a sniffle and a sneeze. "I never bothered to learn to speak cat. And even if you knew cat, I doubt he'd tell you."

"Learning rat is much more useful," Door has to agree with that much. Who bothers learning the language of a major source of food. "I was lucky to have an aptitude for it."

The sneeze has her stepping a little back. "And if Supper wants to give a true name, that's fine but I won't force it." Even with Carabas, not his name, Door won't push.

"Everybody likes a good coon stew," he jokes back.

However, her revelation about naming the cat after him gets a confused look, a bit of 'are you crazy'. After she explains, the look softens.

"He's lots cuter and cuddlier than I am. Might want to stick with the cat."

"It's kinda hard to explain." He is oblivious to her looking for a weapon. Why would she attack the person who just saved her and put away his weapon, right?

"Basically, you have the world you come from. There's a world I'm from. Lots of other worlds too. and this place kinda just hovers somewhere between all the world. At least that's what we think."

[tough_sweet_sixteen]

"You're making that up." But whether she believed that or just wanted to believe it, she wasn't entirely sure.

Maybe a little bit of both.

Not that it mattered. Slowly, she started to inch herself closer to the sharp rock.

"Huh." He glances around. "They got any medicine for that 'round here?"

He's still holding the kitten, but now he's got it cradled in the crook of his arm instead of holding it up by it's scruff.

"Not that I know of," Alec says with a sigh. "I've yet to really find anything that works on it."

The kitten gets a stink eye.

The kitten doesn't seem to care as it seems to like its new position.

"At this point? Any place with food 'n water. Especially water. I'm--" He stopped when Alec offered the bottle, blinking at it and then at him. "'The hell'd you get that?" He looked skeptical. If this guy can teleport, who knows where the bottle came from. But at this point, he's too dangerously low on water to refuse it. After a moment of hesitation, he takes it and quickly chugs about half of it.
