Hawkeye Pierce sits on the beach, his legs crossed in front of him as he watches the fireworks explode in the distance. He has no idea how he got here, but right now he doesn't really care... at least it's better than the war.
He tries not to move so as not to disturb the tiny, sleeping kitten on his lap.
onen_i_estel: (An urgent matter)

Through the long grass, a dark man stands peering towards a large structure in the not so far off distance. His face is a new one; weary and dirty, marred with soot and ash, dirt and blood. But, there was an air of victory in his blue-grey eyes despite his confused look.

To further bewilder the Ranger, not more than five feet away, a box with mysterious symbols fell in front of him. He went to it, slowly; cautiously.

Not sure how she arrived here, she'd only wished somewhere safe away from Croup and Vandemaar, Door lays on the meadow, bleeding from a wound in her arm. Something must've failed her. She opened too many doors in her escape, that she failed to be inside, somewhere far, far away from London Below.

Something wiggles near her foot, and she raises her head to see a cat? No. No. No. She doesn't need a cat. Cats keep the rats away, and she needs to send a message. Only the rats can go where Door needs them. Other than an opener, rats can go about anywhere, but this cat, no, kitten, is going to stop her from getting the help she needs.

Marin (so AU it's not even funny) | Legend of Zelda

[personal profile] windfish_waker 2014-03-07 06:55 pm (UTC)(link)
It was her own fault, really. Most people, when they saw a mountain, would comment about how pretty it was, would admire its colors, would remark about the hands of the gods upon the landscape. When she saw a mountain, she just had to climb it.

And where had that gotten her? Stuck. That's where.

She stood on the precipice, peering down (she'd never been afraid of heights, although her recent fall in the Catfish's Maw had made her much more careful as of late). Below her, she saw the slick face of the mountain, like glass. How had she managed to get herself up there in the first place?

As she began to contemplate jumping and hoping to sprout wings (it wouldn't be entirely unprecedented around these parts), she heard a low whistle from above. She turned her head, taking a step back at just the right moment.

A box crashed down at her feet.

"That...happened."

"Pretty lights."

So pretty and he's smiling to himself as he's trying to keep his eyes open. It's not proper to fall asleep in a field when he's pretty sure there's an actual bed somewhere areound here. Though that requires moving and he's not sure moving is going to be a thing at the moment. Especially since there's a kitten sleeping on him. It'd be rude to disturb the kitten right?

And with the fireworks going off, it's a little hazardous to fall asleep. He doesn't know who's setting them off or if they've been trained properly to handle things that go boom.

"Need place. Place to gather, to fight, to organize..." Zathras shakes his head and turns around to see the castle. This is not the place he was supposed to be. There are no castles in Zathras' destiny.

"Not the place. Not the time. No one tells Zathras anything."

Suddenly a box drops down from the sky and he bends to pick up. There are strange markings all around it. "This is wrong tool. Cannot use this."

Emma | Supernatural

[personal profile] tough_sweet_sixteen 2014-03-07 07:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Emma would freely admit, she didn't have a solid handle on what Elysium was supposed to look like. Still, she was pretty sure it didn't involve hanging upside down by your ankle while a plant licked its chops at you.

Not good.

On the plus side, the pain was gone. That more than made up for the hanging upside down bit.

She wriggled and thrashed, trying to get a hold of her bronze. But it was like the blade had vanished from out of her hand. She looked around, trying to find it, or else, find the enemy who had taken it from her. It appeared, however, that the only lifeform she could find, in all directions, was a fluffy, white kitten who mewed up at her.

She hated the kitten instantly.
inmybrothersshadow: (012 - Confused)

Rollo | Vikings (playing from a s2 ep1 canon point)

[personal profile] inmybrothersshadow 2014-03-07 07:34 pm (UTC)(link)
This was an entirely strange place for the Viking warrior to find himself in. While he wasn't happy about being snatched from his world the way he had, he couldn't completely complain when he'd intended to leave anyway. Or at least that had been his intention before Siggy had told him the gods had given him a second chance. While there was truth to her words, he wasn't exactly certain he could win back the trust of his brother and fellow kinsmen. He had betrayed them all, and for what? To try and step out of his brother's shadow. Jealousy could poison a heart far quicker than anything else.

So with the change in location, Rollo had begun exploring the new land as any good warrior would do. He was on guard, of course. He'd sailed West, he knew there were untold dangers within his own world, let alone a world he did not know. He eventually found himself at a beach. The water called him, but he had no ship to sail in. Still, he sat down in the sand and gazed out at the water, letting his mind drift. He'd completely lost track of time as he sat there. He was there long enough for day to begin turning into night, and that's when he got the surprise of his life.

"By the gods," he spoke in surprise as the water began to turn various colors. He hadn't seen anything like that before except for the lights that would dance in the sky in his own world. And shortly thereafter, he noticed the sand itself was roiling. Leaping to his feet, Rollo stared wide-eyed down at the sand, thinking some beast was beneath the sand. "What is this?" He expected some beast to leap up to the surface and attack him, but it never came.

The last she remembered was being in a very tense situation -- and now she was here. Wherever 'here' was. It didn't appear to be Valhalla, so obviously something else was amiss. She took careful steps, looking around curiously.

At least that was her intention until she felt a twinge in her side. Looking down she could see the blood flowing freshly from her wound.

"Oh," she remembered out loud, her voice faint and carrying a distant tremor of shock.

Lisbeth Salander | Millennuim Trilogy

[personal profile] hacker_republic 2014-03-07 07:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Lisbeth pulled her leather jacket closer around her as she moved through the tundra. It reminded her being in northern Sweden with Kalle fucking Blomkvist during the winter months and working on research there. Incidentally, she was content at the time, which didn't help her displeasure in this situation.

With a frown, she trudged onwards until she she noticed it looked like something was in the snow. After digging a little, her bare fingers hit what appeared to be an old doll.

Standing up, she looks at it closer, before looking over and noticing it looked like something else was in the snow.

[ooc: I still need to canon review, but I wanted to post this anyway.]

His dark eyes quickly open, as he startled awake with a gasp. There were faint memories buzzing around his psyche as if his mind was in a fog when he sat up and rubbed at his eyes.

Was all that just a dream?

But when he looked around, he hadn't recalled being on the beach and he quickly scrambled to his feet looking around confused. Out of the corner of his eye, something caught his attention, and reaching for his sword hilt, he's surprised to see that it was just a kitten running around and seemingly playing in the sand.

"At least I'm not completely alone."

Mary Poppins folded the letter back up again and tucked it into the breast pocket of her coat. She picked up her carpetbag and deftly opened her umbrella before stepping off the cloud. It should be a quick flight. Only she found herself very much not in London anymore and very much in a tundra.

While unexpected, Mary Poppins did not panic. She merely opened her carpet bag and pulled out a compass of all things. She examined it and spoke something low. When nothing happened, she looked around again.

"Oh honestly! Well, there's nothing for it then." She picked a direction to begin walking, hoping her magic would pick up again so she could get out of the freezing temperatures.

Lilith | Supernatural

[personal profile] first_demon 2014-03-07 10:31 pm (UTC)(link)
She stood before the castle, staring over it as the light reflected from the turrets and windows. It was magically built, that much was obvious. But the power was different from the world she had come from. Different and...more absurd.

Lilith chuckled, looking over the meadow with a small hint of amusement on her lips. It was remarkable, she would give these Nysgod that much. But beyond that...there was nothing here that could equal the power of Hell, the fear and chaos that she could raise on Earth. A flick of her wrist and there would be screaming...

It made her feel, almost nostalgic...

And now she were here, in a world that was nothing like home and had little prospect in the way of fun. What a bore...

[personal profile] play_freebird 2014-03-07 10:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Max Ride is Having A Day. Growing up dumpster diving and a (bird)girl gets a bit snappish about her food. Like say that uber delicious grilled cheese with her name on it. And a girl with a hair trigger temper might get... slightly more snappish than usual. What? She ain't gonna go out and eat desert rat again, she has had her fill of that for like twenty seven lifetimes and maybe a midlife crisis to boot.

You know what, regardless of what Max would do for a Klondike Bar, she did not sign up to get stabbed over a grilled cheese. She yelps, swearing a stream of very creative and surprisingly pg curses (once you learn to keep it g for the junior members of the flock it never really goes away), and her wings curl around herself protectively as she falls down...

Which doesn't help her get the stab happy grilled cheese bandit, but it does help her not pass out from the pain so she is just gonna take the win here as she struggles back to her feet, wings unfolding again to give herself some stability.

Yep. Wings.

As in she's part bird. But she prefers Avian American. And she would really prefer medical attention.
finefinefinefinefine: (all i have going for me)

Martin Crieff | Cabin Pressure | angry on the beach

[personal profile] finefinefinefinefine 2014-03-07 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Martin's hand is still swollen from where the bee stung him. It's a constant reminder of the loss of his dad's ring, which he's almost certainly never getting back now. Now that it's in, from the sound of it, another dimension entirely. And inside a goose.

So he sits on the beach: a shortish, youngish man in a damp, soiled pilot's uniform, staring with an expression of distant but clear irateness out over the water -- his face is fairly beet-red from the anger and, he'd be slightly ashamed to admit, some earlier tears, but the colour gets washed out by the tinted lights coming off of the water.

A dead, stuffed sheep is his only companion, and he's holding onto it with both arms. Couldn't wait to put down the bloody thing two hours ago. Now he's probably never going to let go of it.

Johnny D'Amico | OC | OTA | 1-3-2 here we go

[personal profile] charming_jerk 2014-03-09 01:16 am (UTC)(link)
Johnny's survival skills had gotten slightly better in the last few years, but he was still a city boy through and through. None of those skills involved survival in a desert, so he underestimated how much he was going to need in the way of supplies, and was now desperately low.

The half-demon's patience are already few even on a good day, and being overheated, lost, and frustrated were only making it worse. To add insult to injury, he managed to trip over an old tin toy truck and right into a cactus. Not usually so klutzy, he vented his frustration with a string of curses and punting that truck as hard as he could. It goes sailing off into the distance rather far, and then down, down...

Well that was odd. Johnny manages to jog ahead for a few yards to get a good glimpse of that canyon that seemed to sneak up on him. He shielded his eyes to get a better look, but the sand below was blinding. This is the first landmark he had seen in awhile though, so maybe, just maybe, someone else was here too. He called out just in case, before he plopped onto the ground in order to work on getting some of those needles out of his shin.

"Hey! HEY! Is anyone here? Anyone?!"

Honestly, the castle wasn't half-bad. Quaint, perhaps. Certainly nothing to compare with the estate she'd left behind in the Enchanted Forest.

But then this wasn't the Enchanted Forest was it? No, this land had a different feel. It was...wrong, somehow. The magic here shifted and slipped together, mixing in ways it shouldn't and leaving her feeling uneasy. Well. It made no difference to her so long as she could find her way out of the meadow and back to Storybrooke, of course, but she was without means of travel. No magical hat to steal, no pixie dust, not so much as a magic bean.

Not yet, at least. Perhaps the residents of this humble castle might have some means of returning her home. They might even have the sense to turn it over to her without a fuss.

Head held high, as though she weren't intent on essentially begging for a ride home again, Regina made her way towards the looming stone structure.

Clark Kent | Smallville

[personal profile] justafarmboy 2014-03-09 06:29 am (UTC)(link)
Clark had no idea how he got to...wherever here was. He did know that he sure as heck wasn't in a desert before this. He stood rather dumbfounded, staring at the barren landscape all around. A lonely wind blew across the stone and sandy ground. He grew up in the prairies, he'd never been to terrain like this before.

"Hello?!" He called out, hearing the echo of his voice bound among the rocks. He wasn't necessarily bothered by the heat, but interestingly enough he wasn't afraid. On the contrary, he was actually in a pretty good mood. He kept moving however, driven by curiousity and heading towards the craggy rocks.

He didn't know how long he had been walking, but he suddenly came to the edge of a canyon, staring down the steep incline to the bottom where there appeared to be an expanse of fine white sand.

"Wow...what is this place?" He uttered, staring all around him in amazement. He started to walk alongside the cliffs edge, when suddenly something crunched under his foot. Clark looked down to spot a colorful object. A yo yo. Bending he picked it up, and that's when he noticed all the other knick knacks scattered along the rocks. Yo Yo's, baseballs, dolls, toy trucks even what looked like an old rocking horse in the distance by a large boulder.

Maybe it was a trash heap for old toys? That still didn't explain why he was even here...
paffswithtude: (I Wear My Sunglasses at Night)

Jubilee | X-men (Marvel)

[personal profile] paffswithtude 2014-03-09 06:47 am (UTC)(link)
"Woah..."

Was the main reaction, spoken by the young Chinese-American girl that stood staring on the beach. The waves rolled onto the shore, the sands were pristine white. It actually was quite beautiful at night, though the sky - not Earth's sky - flickered with that odd lightning now and again.

Jubilee pushed her sunglasses up onto her head, nestled in her short black hair as she stared at the lightshow flickering through the alien sky, mouth partially open as she tried to figure out where she was and how she got here. But rather than freak out and be frightened, she actually seemed....excited.

"This is so...cool!" She grinned suddenly. "But you call that a lightshow? How about this?" She raised her yellow gloved hands. Suddenly bright lights and colors flashed all around her with pops and fizzles - like a miniature fireworks show in itself. She spun in place, laughing for a moment.

She paused, hands raised, while the lights fizzled and sparkled. Damn - she was kind of hungry. "Where can a girl get a grill cheese sandwich around here?" She groused, not expecting anyone else around to hear her. She would have to figure out something to eat and soon. For now though, she was enjoying herself and keeping herself entertained.

The Unicorn /Amalthea | The Last Unicorn

[personal profile] am_i_the_last 2014-03-12 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
A delicate, ethereal looking woman picked her way cautiously through the meadow. She was pale in skin tone, with a long curtain of white hair that tumbled down her back to her waist. Her simple gown was in tones of purple and lavender. She was just below average height but she was willowy and slender. There was something unnatural about her. In the way she moved and held herself. This human form wasn't her normal form - and it showed in the way she held oddly still between moments of deliberate and careful movement. She appeared both curious and skittish, radiating gentleness.

Her eyes were drawn to the castle at the far side of the meadow, and she studied it quietly, wondering where she was. This was not her forest...and this was not the castle of Hagard. It wasn't a location that she recognized from her travels. Her eyes were deep pools that held both innocence and ageless wisdom. A melancholy sadness. Remembering.

Suddenly a rumble was heard more than felt that vibrated the air. The woman quickly turned, looking this way and that but could not find the source in the peaceful scene around her. It sounded like....no...it couldn't be!

Whirling, the woman tried to run, despite the fact that there was no visible sign of danger. Her long white hair streamed behind her as she sought a place to hide from that horrible roar - completely caught up in instinctual fear. She stumbled, her gown getting tangled in her legs as her bare feet whispered in the grass. There were other smaller dwellings near the center of the meadow - and though her first instinct was to avoid the humans that may be living in them, her experience taught her that maybe just maybe she would find help.

It didn't stop her from being terrified.
acapellas: (Oh all the comrades that e'er I've had)

Beth Greene || The Walking Dead (Season 4 So here there be spoilers...)

[personal profile] acapellas 2014-03-13 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
Beth Greene, Hershel's youngest daughter, Maggie's little sister and she's thought she loved, and lost-- and lost and lost. Sometimes, it feels like that's all they have left anymore. Constant crushing loss. Every step forward, puts them in a path for more pain and loss.

She misses the days when things were more simple. Before the dead started walking, and just about everyone she's ever known was lost. And now... She lost one of the most important things left, the one thing--

Beth sniffles and wipes her eyes with a little shuddering sigh.

Sitting on a rocky outcropping and just stares off into the distance. The mountains are beautiful, she thinks her Daddy would have liked to see them, and without warning she sobs, and finds herself really crying again.

It was awful. Trapped behind that fence like that... not able to help-- or do anything. Stuck up there in the 'safety' of their false fortress while she watched. How do you come back from that?

He didn't deserve that...

He did everything he could to help everyone around him. He was a good man. A GOOD man... And what did it get him in this world? It wasn't fair. Rick was wrong, they couldn't have made it work. And see, the thing is... he and her Daddy would have tried and by the time they both knew what was happening....

It would have been too late.

Beth sighs... petting the tiny ball of fluff in her lap when it mewls at her. It's funny how this world works, what it does to you. How it changes people.

"I miss my Daddy, Daryl." And added a beat later. "And Maggie."

The fluffy and somehow scruffy rough looking scrappy little kitten looks up at her with a rather dubious-- or more likely bored expression. He reminds her of the rough cut crossbow wielding 'tough guy', who was probably better with Judith than she was. So the name fits.

Even if there's a nagging little tickle in the back of her head that says there is something a little weird about all of this, she figures as long as there aren't Walkers she's safe, and if she's not safe-- than God has graced her with at least a gorgeous view to spend eternity watching. "I wish he could be here to see this."

Amanda Perry || Stargate Universe

[personal profile] most_qualified 2014-03-13 02:53 am (UTC)(link)
Amanda stares at the castle in the distance, she can feel the soft grass below her feet. It's a far cry from the hard floor that are found on Destiny. But still she ponders if maybe there's a glitch in the system? If this can be some simulation that she hasn't run into before.

Her attention returns back to the castle not having seen one in person since she was a little girl. Oh what a time that had been with her parents. She smiles at the memory recalling how she always thought a princess lived inside.

But then she's snapped away from her thoughts feeling something furry nudge at her leg. She looks down surprised to see a kitten. She leans down to pet it.

"Hello there."
