Max Ride is Having A Day. Growing up dumpster diving and a (bird)girl gets a bit snappish about her food. Like say that uber delicious grilled cheese with her name on it. And a girl with a hair trigger temper might get... slightly more snappish than usual. What? She ain't gonna go out and eat desert rat again, she has had her fill of that for like twenty seven lifetimes and maybe a midlife crisis to boot.

You know what, regardless of what Max would do for a Klondike Bar, she did not sign up to get stabbed over a grilled cheese. She yelps, swearing a stream of very creative and surprisingly pg curses (once you learn to keep it g for the junior members of the flock it never really goes away), and her wings curl around herself protectively as she falls down...

Which doesn't help her get the stab happy grilled cheese bandit, but it does help her not pass out from the pain so she is just gonna take the win here as she struggles back to her feet, wings unfolding again to give herself some stability.

Yep. Wings.

As in she's part bird. But she prefers Avian American. And she would really prefer medical attention.

Sarah can handle bird girls without even blinking. Comes with the territory of living in the cryptid world - some things just look a little weirder than most. It's nothing personal and it's not bad, but it's still something you have to get used to and Sarah is well versed in weird. All the same, she's mostly concerned with that stab wound.

"Oh my God," she says softly as she makes her way closer. "What happened?"

WELL SINCE YOU ASKED.

"I got shanked over a grilled cheese! Can you believe the nerve of some people, stealing a helpless kid's food? I bet they toss the crusts when there are kids starving in Ethiopia." She bristles and manages to maintain the façade that she is a-okay, just fine, tip top shape, totally not losing blood and getting pale, psh, she just needs some vitamin d or self-tanner.

But her grilled cheese.

Oh hell no.

She's gonna be pissed about that. It's easier than being scared, obviously. And Max Ride doesn't do scared. She does ass kicking casual and breaking the bones of her enemies and pithy retorts. Scared is not on the menu, capiche?

W o w and just when she thinks people couldn't surprise her. All the same, she makes a face of concern as she takes a few steps closer. Not touching her outright but hoping to herd her towards a bench or a chair or something.

"Why don't you sit? That stab wound doesn't look good."

She's going to protest, she really is, but yeah sitting seems like a good plan and she does that.

If you call falling down onto her knees sitting.

Semantics.

She puts a hand back to her stomach instead of pointing after the sandwich stealing punk and frowns, annoyed. "I'm starving." And dramatic. She's gone days without food, she'll survive, but man is she hungry.

"I will make you another sandwich, once you're not bleeding to death. Deal?"

It better be because it's the only deal you're going to get, Max. Sarah may be bookish and nerdy but when it comes to business she will cuckoo whammy you to save your life. She is not even kidding.

"If you must." She rolls her eyes, just so damn put upon to do anything to benefit her well being or admit she isn't okay. Focus on the food reward. Always focus on the food. The food is key.

But wait.

"I'm totally not bleeding to death. Maybe like unconsciousness and a transfusion, but I'm not sure exsanguination is on the menu."

"I'd prefer to avoid either, personally." And with that she's going to fumble into her bag for a moment, before pulling out a pair of scissors. The edge is sharp enough to slice against her wrist - not too deep but enough to get some clear cuckoo blood flowing. She scoops some of it off her wrist, before leaning forward and smearing it against the wound.

She wouldn't do this if she didn't assume that Max wasn't already a cryptid. But cuckoo blood is an antiseptic and a pain reliever so this will hopefully help her from going into shock and keep the wound from getting infected. Then she's just going to press her hand against the wound and push them both up. "Lean on me. We need a first aid kit."
