"It's called The Wyld. A place between dimensions, I think. Come on, I'll take you to the meadow. There's a lot of people there and maybe you'll know a face or two?"

Like hell she's going off with some strange man.

Again, Emma's eyes take in her surroundings, searching for something, anything that she could use as a weapon.

And her eyes fall on a sharp rock.

What should she do now? Keep him talking. That's what the elders would say. Keep the man distracted. Off his guard. Unaware.

"A place between dimensions? What does that mean?"

"It's kinda hard to explain." He is oblivious to her looking for a weapon. Why would she attack the person who just saved her and put away his weapon, right?

"Basically, you have the world you come from. There's a world I'm from. Lots of other worlds too. and this place kinda just hovers somewhere between all the world. At least that's what we think."

"You're making that up." But whether she believed that or just wanted to believe it, she wasn't entirely sure.

Maybe a little bit of both.

Not that it mattered. Slowly, she started to inch herself closer to the sharp rock.

"No, not really. Come to the meadow and you'll see what I mean." He motioned for her to follow him.
