Possibly the Most Intricate Docking Event Ever, NBD...
Hey there, hi there, ho there, players! Greetings from Wizera and Momo. We're here to announce the docking event you never knew you wanted. This is a complex and intricate plot, so make sure to read this entire post. As some of you may know, Momo is the mod of a lovely game called City of Sin. And, as you probably should have figured out by this point, Wizera mods a certain game called Throne of Shadows.
You didn't know that? We'll give you a minute.
Anyway, Momo and Wizera have decided to throw a loop in both games by having a crossover event! That's right! From Day 305 to Day 307, the Egime is going to be docking in the City of Sin itself. This is a dark and modern city, filled with skyscrapers and...as the name would suggest...sin. Though generally like any other city, the City of Sin has something of a taint to it. It doesn't feel like some of those more lively places the candidates have visited before now, or have come from in the past. Instead, it feels a little bit off. There are citizens here, people who populate the city and who are used to people randomly popping in and out, but the bustle of the city, even in the nicer districts, seems a little bit more dangerous. As though if you stayed too long, something bad would happen to you. More information about the setting can be found on the game's profile and also on the World Information page.
Of course, a docking event is more than just landing in a new place. It's an event. So what's going to be happening? Well, the City of Sin normally causes certain emotions (lust, wrath, greed, you get the idea) to manifest in people, and amplifies what they already feel. The Egime's arrival, however, is going to throw an interesting kink into this problem. Because there are so many people on the Egime who also live in the City of Sin, these emotions are going to manifest themselves in the form of seven different kinds of deadly demons. Full descriptions of these demons can be found here, and they are, naturally, quite dark in nature. (Be warned: there are minor trigger warnings for discussions of water and spiders; these are found in the last two demons, so if this bothers you, please feel free to skip over those sections.)
As if fighting demons wasn't going to complicate the candidates' lives enough, they'll also be given the opportunity to interact with the PCs and perhaps some of the NPCs from the City of Sin. NPCs will likely be limited to one or two threads. Please talk to Momo if you want to request someone.

But first, some FAQs. Since this is a complex plot, please, please, please read these thoroughly and ask questions in the appropriate sub-threads...
I play the same character in both Throne of Shadows and City of Sin. How is this going to impact my gameplay?
This was the first consideration we had, as we plotted out this event. We would like to give you options for that, based on what you feel will be the most fun. You can play both characters as separate entities (noting when you tag in or start a log which version of the character you're playing) or you can have them meld into one being, for the length of the plot, with memories from both worlds. So, for example, let's say someone plays Draco Malfoy in both games (who would do that?!?!). That player will have option of playing both Draco Malfoys in the City of Sin, or for having both Dracos become one Draco. Choosing the second option means that they will be fused from the moment the plot begins (and waking up in the location of the City of Sin Draco) until the Egime leaves the city, at which point they will separate back into two beings, one in the City, one on the ship. The one that remains on the ship may either retain or lose their City of Sin memories, depending on player preferences. If your character does remember their City of Sin memories, it will be like a half-remembered dream.
Someone else plays my character in City of Sin. How will this impact my gameplay?
The long and the short of it is that it won't. Both versions of the character will exist in the City, for the duration of the plot, but it will be entirely up to you about whether or not you run into yourself. Again, IT IS ENTIRELY UP TO YOU ABOUT WHETHER OR NOT YOU RUN INTO YOURSELF.
I'm really not grooving on this plot idea. Is there an opt-out?
Of course! If you don't want to participate, you are more than welcome to say that your character simply remains on the Egime. This also goes for any players from City of Sin who wish to opt out of the plot, though their characters will likely have to be told to go to the ship.
Which comms are going to be used for this plot?
Excellent question! Both comms will have a catch-all log for the people who want to interact in each setting, along with the network comms for people in their respective games to comment on what all is going on. That is to say, anyone from Throne of Shadows is able to comment in either the log in the ToS log comm or the City of Sin log comm, but are limited to ToS-based network posts. The reverse goes for City of Sin players and characters. In general, if you want to participate in the plot to the fullest, direct your attention to the log that will be up in the City of Sin log comm, and if you'd prefer to opt out, direct your attention over towards the Throne of Shadows log comm.
What's there to do in the City of Sin...you know, besides fighting demons?
There's a surprising amount of things to do in the City of Sin, if you look! It is city-sized, and while each district tends to focus on one particular thing to show off, there is something for everyone somewhere. A good overview of already created locations can be found here, and players can always feel free to ask Momo if there's something specific they wanted to see.
Where is the Egime going to be docking, specifically?
There are actually docks in the City itself, located in the Shantytown district! This means the Egime will be settling into the waters right outside the City, and characters will have to move through Shantytown in order to get to the City proper. There are taxis willing to give people a ride, though, and they seem to accept virtually anything (as long as it's worth something) as currency, but watch out for some of the less friendly individuals hanging around. Shantytown isn't the nicest district in the City.
What supplies can we pick up in the City of Sin and bring back on to the Egime?
A good question!While many of the items you could pick up in a modern, urban setting are available in the city, the candidates will find that they are unable to bring any items back on board the Egime with them. For some reason, the laws of physics don't like two multiverses touching, so any items from the City that candidates bring back on board will dissolve into dust within an hour. EDIT There is quite a lot to be found in a modern, urban setting like this, and there are a great number of goods to be found. There are some exceptions - weapons and technology will disintegrate into dust after an hour of being brought back onto the Egime, for example - but more harmless supplies may not. It's hit or miss, say about a 70% chance that the product in question will remain after that hour. It's up to players if they want to have their items turn into dust. This includes food, clothing, and various other innocuous items.
There are two exceptions we are offering to this rule. One is food: the candidates can replenish the food supplies in the City. This food will rot a little bit faster than normal, especially the fruits and vegetables, but nothing will turn to dust. The second is people: because the Egime is acting as safe ground, characters from the City of Sin are also allowed onto the ship. If they are still there when the event ends, they will simply fall unconscious and wake back up in their own apartments back in the City.
Does that same rule apply to items brought off of the Egime and into the City?
No. Otherwise, we wouldn't be able to do much playing! Items from the Egime can be brought off and taken back on board. However, candidates will notice that spending extended time off of the ship (figure, five hours) will lead to a queasy, slightly disoriented feeling. The feeling will vanish instantly, as soon as they return on board. After that, they are free to leave again for another stretch, before they start to feel sick once more.
What happens if my character gets killed fighting demons?
Because the event is so short, any characters who die will be pushed into a sort of limbo state. They will effectively leave their now-dead body, but are available to watch various happenings of other characters. Unlike during the An-Teng plot, no one will be aware of these ghost-like forms, and they will be unable to communicate with anyone else, whether dead or alive, regardless of ability. This will go on for a day, at which point the soul will be forcibly snatched back into the now-living body, regardless of where it was relocated to. This is accompanied by mild nausea and a headache. It is up to players as to whether they would prefer their character remember what they saw while in ghost form or not.
When I apped into Throne of Shadows, my character had certain powers that were taken away. Can they be temporarily regained in the City?
No. Because the Grasp still has a hold on your character, nerfing will remain in place.
I play a vampire. How will sunlight impact my character?
The sun in the City of Sin does not affect vampire characters! They may freely roam around as they see fit, at whatever time they like. Due to it being March in the City at this time, there is also less daylight to worry about in the first place. But watch out for things that lurk in shadows...
I play a character with former game memories from Bete Noire. Will they recognize the City?
For those of you who are unfamiliar with City of Sin, the game is something of a sequel to Bete Noire. That said, no, people with Bete Noire memories will not recognize the City, because it looks very, very different. They can, through interaction with other characters, figure it out, but they won't know just by looking at it.
Is this a metaplot event?
Not really. For the purposes of Throne of Shadows, this is being run as a player plot. One of the players just happens to be a mod. There may be an NPC or two around from the City of Sin, but not in any sort of metaplot-based capacity. That said, City of Sin players may find that the City doesn't necessarily like visitors coming in.
