Random CR Poll

Hey everyone. Kally here. Putting up a poll to get people's opinions on a randomized CR event. For anyone who has never been in a game with a similar event, I'll use an example from a recent event at Bete Noire.

The city had a huge, magical snowstorm. Characters were randomly selected to be in locations together, such as getting caught in the storm together in a movie theatre, a bar, a grocery store, etc. The event lasted for a few days, during which time the characters had to try and survive together.

In essence, your character is stuck with random other characters for a few days. It's basically just a nice way for your muses to get out of their small CR groups and interact with new people.

(This part is me speaking my opinion as a player, not as your mod: I have been in cliquey games before and it's not fun. I don't think we're cliquey, I actually think everyone in the game is super friendly, but we do have some small casts forming (And hey, I'm in the Avengers one). I love being in a cast, but seeing as how we aren't a huge game, I think it's good for everyone to spread out some CR and I know that sometimes, it's easier to stay in my own comfort zone and tag people I have played with before/who are in my cast. I, therefore, really love random CR events because it forces me to tag around when I might hesitate to do so otherwise. Okay, now back to being a mod.)

However! I know some people are not fans of these types of events so rather than throw one at you without asking around, I wanted to get your opinion. I'll leave the poll up until Saturday, October 13th.

Should We Have A Randomized CR Event?

I voted for making it optional, since I think randomly putting characters together on purpose to form CR doesn't always yield positive results and can feel like a waste of time. For example, I had three characters in that event in BN, and in one group, the person who said they'd post the log never put it up, and in the other two match ups, the conversation was really bland and didn't go anywhere. It was sort of like pulling teeth trying to get something going.

Sometimes styles of RPing don't match up and you just steer away trying to force it to. There's also the fact that certain characters, just like people in real life, wouldn't get along, and would just avoid each other instead of constantly interacting in a negative fashion. It doesn't mean the character or player is bad, but just that you don't mesh well, and forcing CR doesn't seem like a good solution.

Not sure where else to post this.

Maybe the Gods could throw a Halloween party for the people? Like, they know it's an Earth custom and thought the people would like a chance to relax? Or the people could throw it?
