It's a lady! It's a country! It's...no seriously, who the hell is that?
Hello everyone!
I'm Isabelle, and I'm bringing you the glorious trainwreck that is the Weimar republic. He's technically Ludwig/Germany from That Silly Anime about nations as people who run around during WWII shouting at each other, but because he's from an earlier historical period - and I try to base him on history as much as possible - he acts quite a bit differently from the stodgy Germanies you may have seen before. Weimar is a serious party girl, drag queen, drug addict, artist, and part-time whore with a bad temper and several buckets full of poorly-suppressed issues.
A note on gender and pronouns and things: Weimar is not transgender. He's a crossdresser and somewhat genderqueer. I'll be using both male and female pronouns in narration for him at different times, just as he'll use different pronouns/names and descriptors for himself. He won't really get worked up about whatever your character calls him, as long as it's not 'it'. This is complicated by the fact that in his era, most of these concepts didn't exist in their modern PC format, and Weimar wouldn't give a fuck even if they did, so he isn't going to be giving people awareness-raising lectures on fluidity. In fact, he's just as likely to be offensive himself.
Even though he's manifesting the queer subculture that exploded in Berlin in the 20s and early 30s, he's still very much a creature of his time, and he won't hesitate to call himself a freak and worse. He's got some very screwed up ideas about gender, a not insignificant amount of internalized homophobia, and oh boy is he ever racist. He can't even really conceptualize why someone might think that's a bad thing. Now, he's not going to be running around tossing out racist BS left and right, but if it comes up, he doesn't have a filter for it, either.
I absolutely don't want him to make anyone uncomfortable OOC! If there are topics/slurs/anything that you don't want to deal with, please let me know! As a country, Weimar is really diverse and complicated and volatile; I can totally spin him being his most liberal self at certain times to help people have fun. Alternatively, if anything I have him say or do does bother you, please let me know. My character doesn't care, but I definitely do, and I can't fix things if I don't know there's a problem.
I think that's everything for now. This place looks super fun, and I can't wait to play with all of you guys!
