Her head tips slightly in his direction as Sam speaks again, and she frowns for a moment before gently picking one of the kittens up and cradling it in her arms. She sits down in the centre of the floor, legs crossed neatly and she hums softly under her breath as she pats the kitten's head lightly.

"Cruel for who? Not cruel for her." She smiles as she peers closely at the cat, then shaking her head. "She wants to run free, away from this cage. She's not strong enough yet, but soon."

"And then what?" Sam demanded. "Oh, she's all cute and hopeful now, but one day she will escape, and think she's living her own life, and then her cat sister will show up, rip everything apart, and she'll findo ut her whole life was a huge lie and humans are in charge and have her whole catlife mapped out for her and then if she's lucky, she'll save the world by going to cat hell."
