Clark smiled. Not because jumping was funny, of course, but because he wasn't, and he wanted to reassure her of that. "No, nothing like that," he said. And then, maybe because he was lonely, maybe because they were all in a little bit of an odd situation here and in it together, he added, "did you ever wish you could fly?"

It was funny, not jumping of course, but the fact that Sulu was also a little bit lonely. She had friends and family here and that was more than most people could ask for. Yet it didn't change the fact that a large amount of control had been taken away from them, it left her reeling internally.

"I used to fly." She flashes the man a grin.

"I was a pilot, being up there is more home to me than having my feet on the ground." She leaves out the small detail of flying starships, because not eveyone comes from the same kinds of places before they get here.

"That sounds exciting," he says, grinning. "You must miss it." There's something nice about meeting someone like her here, random but relatable. He's found that no matter where they're from, everyone's got some point of commonality. If you can just ferret it out. Of course, it's difficult for him to tell her why without going into things that wouldn't make a lot of sense to anyone not used to aliens and things, which is why he doesn't mention it. "Commercial, or air force?"

"Oh, I do."

A few steps more, put her somewhere to the right of him, but close enough to look out over the edge. Her breath hitches a bit and Sulu takes a half step backward. I pilot that had a fear of heights. Well, it wasn't a phobia so much as a flashback.

"Military." Because technically speaking, Starfleet was it's own branch. Though she wasn't wearing a uniform at the moment, just casual clothing that a servant in the temple had gotten her. Sulu had asked the girl's name, but she'd been too shy for an answer, apparently.

"I haven't really been here that long though. A few days."

"Me too," Clark said, nodding. He held out his hand. "I'm Clark." Military. So she had some training. "Figured out a way out of here yet?"

Shaking the hand offered, Sulu stops to think over how best to answer his question.

"I've been gathering intelligence as I go, but honestly, I'm not sure if there is a way out. Or a reliable one, at least." She'd heard stories of them sending people back, only to pop up in the temple again, with new memories of their life. It was strange. At least it was better than the straight up disappearing of others. Not something that she wanted to scare Clark with.

"And I'm Hikaru, it's nice to meet you, Clark."
