Metaplots and Mindscapes!

Here comes a plot, du-dn-du-du...

Although so far we've handwaved the beginnings of this, Bowtie and Spock are currently looking into the question of hacking the Network. Because if the Nysgods are gonna keep being all all hush-hush, they're gonna go after the information about What's Going On themselves.

The Good News: this is going to work!

The Bad News: ...for a short period of time. After which the Network will bite back, causing people who are wearing their earpieces to temporarily black out and go roaming through each others' minds.

What's this mean for you?

This is an opt-in plot, on two levels:

ONE: Other scientists and magic-types are needed to help out with the hacking! The Doctor has a post up here for people to sign on. (Other characters, if they can't help out, are welcome to set up any future 'I told you so's.)

TWO: The second part will come sometime in the area of Day 190-192 (October 17-25), final decision to be made by the mods. This is the part where anybody can participate, as long as you say the character was wearing their earpiece at the time. And this is where we get to play with mindscapes: what would your character's mind look like, if it were a physical location? What sort of scenes might play out there? Would strangers be welcome, or would intruders be attacked? You can take a look at this meme if you want/need inspiration.

And there's the gist. It's a few weeks out yet, but I wanted to give people plenty of time to be creative!

Edit: Adding on a question that came up in the comments: Should my characters be present in their own mindscape, or is it an empty space?

That's up to you! It could be empty, the host character could be there, or there could be some completely different entity/entities that act(s) on behalf of the host's subconscious. Whatever you think makes a more interesting scene.

Oooo I kinda have to mindscape. That part starts on my birthday. I expect the inside of Obi-Wan's mind looks like the Jedi Temple on Coruscant.

Diana's mind is probably the inside of the bottle from "I Dream of Jeannie." Garmay's is probably a river of some kind.

Which is my way of saying I'm in on the second half.

This sounds totally cool! I have a question though, to help me better understand. When blacked out, everybody's character who's opted in is roaming through others' mindscapes. So does that mean it's an empty place when a character visits, or would the "host" be in their own mindscape too, able to talk to/interact with them?

Yeah, I figure since we're working with dream logic here, they can be in several "places" at once if we want them to be. Or not!

I'm so in. Ashe's mind will be rather welcoming (she's actually really lonely) and spa-vacation-y unless she senses hostility or evil. Then it's Cosmic Level Angry Birds.

Tara knows a spell through her experience with Willow on how to communicate and traverse through people's minds. Don't know if that would be useful?

None of my characters would know what to do with the hacking business, but I'm so down with the mindscapes thing!
