For Hackers and Mindscapers: More Info
As of this post, the Doctor has broken up the hacking volunteers into separate groups. This has the IC benefit of being able to focus the work on multiple areas at once, and the OOC benefit of being a clever plot to get everyone new CR. mwahaha.
So, what now?
Once upon a time in Bete Noire, I ran a similar group that was focused on solving Science Problems and finding a way out of the city. Since none of us are wizards or science geniuses in real life (I'm pretty sure), the technical parts were mostly handwaved, leaving the interactions between characters as in-between-experiments CR building. It was then assumed that as time passed, Science was done and Stuff Happened as a result. We'd make up any necessary technobabble as we went.
That's basically what's gonna go down here. Each group of three is working on trying to hack a Net Box while liaising with the other groups. On Day 191 (Oct 20-22), some aspect of their efforts will click, and something - only the mods know, at this point - will happen.
ICly, this is less than a week after they started, but I figure with the minds we've got collaborating on the project, that's not an unreasonably short amount of time.
And then, Mindscapes.
On Day 192 (Oct 23-25), I'll be putting up a meme-style post in the logs comm for people to post their mindscapes to. ICly, the blackout will happen in mid-day, whether your character is asleep or awake, as long as they have their ear piece in. It'll last only a short time, but since the characters are dreaming, there's room for as many threads as people want to do.
Feel free to put any restrictions on your thread header you like: OTA, X number of responses only, locked to certain people (if you've planned it out beforehand). I want this to be cool and groovy for everyone.
Any questions, you know what to do.

For plot reasons: Ben doesn't sleep with his earpiece, and if he's training, which is what he does mid-day, he would also have it out to focus on who he's training. Marcus will just have taken it out to work on something at the clinic.

Haralel's mind will probably be like a gigantic library...something like what they got in the white tower where she comes from. Of course there will be gardens in there somewhere too! The trick with Hara is that she doesn't wear her headpiece as often (she was kinda creeped out after the odd noise sleep disruption business). However if there is enough interest to interact with her I'm cool with having her happen to wear it for the event.
Vector wears his headpiece all the time and rarely takes it off, so he's definitely a candidate! His mindscape will probably be something much like his home in the computer world.
Hopefully I have people who are interested in threading with me! There's no limits characterwise for either of my characters! Come at me bro!
