I've improved them some with at least getting them to fit. They're one size fit all and the fabric is very strange. I have a friend who used some magic to make them shrink in the right spots.

[He could tell from her outfit she knew a thing or two about fashion.]

At least we get to wear what we want on our off days.

I'm from Ohio. I've never been out west.

[her tone is light, as though they're talking about something...not demonic / werewolf-ish. Like the weather.] Something like that.

You don't seem all that bothered by being surrounded by all this. [she nods to the fish.]

Ohio. Where they get real winter, or so I hear. I've never been.

[Her casualness about it suggested that she was used to strange things happening. Buffy had the same kind of dismissal when it irritated her. Angel looks back out into the water.]

I'm not. I've been underwater before. Not in a structure like this, but a submarine..

You don't seem all that bothered by it either. You're new, right?

[He shrugged, closing the distance between them, with a visible smile.]

Oh, I don't know. Even back then Polo's hat didn't trend very well. Or, so I've heard.

Wizard actually. [His smile grows at her compliment.] Thank you. It's actually pretty comfortable when you get it to fit right. Not that I wouldn't like to burn it if I got half the chance. We work three days and then get a day off.

I'm not sure that's a bragging point but yes, we do get snow and ice.

A submarine makes more sense than an entire city. I can't imagine there's a whole lot of these.

By my count, I've been here about two hours. Yes. I'm new. [she eyes him with slightly wide eyes, like she's trying to figure out what he's getting at.] How long have you been here?

That was the end of the 12th Century. Any fashion choices from that era should probably be shot and buried.

[It was said lightheartedly and in a friendly manner, even her following questions, despite the forwardness.]

So who are you?

What's the difference? [and is he evil? Is he going to kill everyone when they're not looking? Are we talking Druidic magic here? She's super done with Druidic magic.

[And her smile suggests she's not wholly convinced, but she'll give him the benefit of the doubt for now.] Sounds like an awful lot of work for not a lot of benefit. What do we get out of these menial tasks?

How's the sudden lack of weather treating you?

Well it helps that we're not in the same universe. There's no telling how many there are.

{Angel shrugged. He wasn't getting at anything, just asking.]

About two months.

No sweeping declarations of how you're needed at home, or how your mom is going to miss you, huh? That's usually the favorite choices.

There aren't any maps around here? [she looks a little sceptical. And also a little amused by the entire thing. Her smile is slightly less tight, and her eyes are slightly less wide.]

Hm. [interesting. Lots of time. Sort of weird. Oh well.]

I'm not. Someone else can find the dead bodies for once, as far as I'm concerned.

[and with that, a flick of red hair over her shoulder!]

Around and around. There are so many corners, so many dead ends that he keeps running into that it reminds him of the maze of Gedref. Except this isn't to help his people and he's starting to get angry. Alright, he was already angry. When he found the person responsible Arthur was going to throw them in the stocks for the day and then he'd take pleasure in throwing rotten fruit at them himself.

Or he'd just hit them upon seeing them - it depended on how generous he was feeling when he found them.

A meow sounded from beneath him and Arthur looked down at the tiny kitten held in one arm. He hadn't known how it had gotten there. Magic perhaps. If he were honest with himself, he didn't know why he continued to carry it. It seemed like a perfectly normal animal (despite the magical appearance) and so he'd take it out of the maze and let it go. That is, if he could ever find the way out.

Arthur lifted the kitten which was tiny enough to sit in the palm of his hand. "You better not be responsible for this." The kitten blinked owlishly at him and mewed.

I definitely agree. Favorite era then?

[He's close enough now that they stand a few feet apart from each other.]

I'm Caius. Who are you? Besides lost.

[Well, he stands, Devi remains perched on the hedge edge on her side of the wall.]

I'm not the one that's lost. I'm Devi, and I don't have a favorite era.

Far too young and wide traveled. What about you?

None that are worth anything.

[Just as dead pan and serious as before. He finds it kind of ironic though that she says someone else can find the dead bodies, when she's standing right next to one.]

Is that a common thing for you then? Coming across dead bodies?

There was another oddity in the shuttle, but this one was far less bold and adorable. Like the kitten. Of course the kitten.

Merlin watched the exchange between the little furball and the candidate with a small quirk of a smile. He was leaned back in his seat, and looked for all the city as if he was going to nap his way through the shuttle ride. Thin arms crossed over his chest.

"You know, I think that one is following you home."

[Lydia just wrinkles her nose in a delicate gesture before sighing a little.] I'd just ask someone, then. We're definitely not alone here, I've noticed that much.

[cue a mermaid going by. Hey, mermaid.

[And he didn't just die; that's good enough for her.] More common than you'd think, considering I'm from a small town in California. I think half the town's dead by now.

Not quite empty, as it turned out.

There was someone actually watching this movie. Apparently.

Of course. Hitting an old man was generally frowned upon in most societies. Then again, there were always exceptions.

[He tracks the mermaid, who flashed him a sultry grin and a wiggle of her fingers before swimming... one could say coyly, away. He was a pretty man, who's brow pinches a little at her description.]

Small towns in California have a habit of doing that. Ever heard of Sunnydale?

Jax was fine with it being not entirely empty. The old guy wasn't directly in front of him, nor did Jax believe he was bothering him.

As long as he didn't bother him, that would be all fine. He's just going to sit here in his own thoughts, thank you.

There was only one thing wrong with the set up, as things stood.

Emrys had never been the quiet sort of old man, not in his youth and certainly not when his bones felt old enough to belong to a world in another universe. Without care for company, the wizened and brittle voice echoed through the theatre to make commentary on the history of twine.

"Well, that isn't right at all!"

He should know. He was there.

And Jax simply closes his eyes and sighs through his nose, his brow knitting in frustration slightly before opening them again.

"You gotta be kiddin' me." He mutters under his breath. He thought he'd get some goddamn peace in this place.

What light flickers from the screen would illuminate the crooked smirk of an old face, but since the film is all but in black and white, that light might not be the most revealing of tools.

"Hardly, boy. I tell you, they've got the order of events all mixed up."

[streamed]

Dunno.

[She looks over at Sarah Jane, then smiles.]

Let's find out.

[She scoops the box into her hands, glad it doesn't appear to have anything about it that would seem to hurt someone who wanted to pick it up. She turns it over, looking at the runes.]

Some alien alphabet block? I'm not sure.
