She sucks in a breath, then smiles. "I would have preferred different circumstances, Mr. Becket, but I know your brother, Raleigh. We Drifted together, and so, I have a part of you and him in my head, now."

A bit blunt, but it was better to get it out in the air.

Okay. That is definitely not one of the admittedly few potential answers he had been expecting from her. He stares at her, incredulity replacing the weariness in his expression. Maybe this is not a fellow Ranger after all. Maybe this is one of those obsessed fans that make their own drivesuit replicas and invent fantasies where they insert themselves into the daily life of a PPDC member.

Mako had an idea of why Yancy was behaving that way, thanks to certain memories Raleigh shared with her.

"My apologies, Yancy. My name is Mako Mori, and I'm a recent Ranger, though I do know Raleigh. We're co-pilots." There wasn't a delicate way of putting that, but that might lessen the blow just a little.
