[even though he doesn't feel that will be much of a problem. he did coax her down off the hedge with conversation, so...]

You know, I totally guessed that about you. [Caius turns slowly around, pausing momentarily for her to fall in beside him and begins to walk] And now that I know what one of your weaknesses are, finding the rest should be pretty easy.

[Devi fell in stride easily, tucking her hands into her pockets with a small chuckle.]

I doubt that. So far you've only gotten what I've given you.

And it's a weakness everyone oughta have. Or tea. An acceptable alternative.

[He looked ahead, giving a vague shrug]

There's plenty of acceptable alternatives. I don't believe a person can have only one weakness. Any less than ten and I'd have to wonder if they'd ever lived.

Oh, I agree. But having them and having them readily available for the picking are two different things. I didn't say anything about not having them.

[She was well aware of her weakness, and wasn't challenging fact, just his assumed ability. Devi was hardly easy.]

Good point. [Frowns] Wow, that's depressing.

[he wouldn't dare assume she was easy. in fact, he was getting the impression that she was anything but.]

What is? [Her brow pinched slightly in confusion.]

Depressing that I have to work at finding out what those other weaknesses are. [he turns to give her a grin] Could be fun though.

[It was impossible to not smile back at that grin, perhaps a bit more coyly then she had intended.]

Then I guess it all depends on if you're up to it. It's no fun without a little bit of a challenge. And in my opinion nothing is worth having, without a little work.

Did you really guess about the coffee?

[Her smile only made his grow.]

I coaxed you down from the hedge, didn't I? I'd say that's as good as saying I'm in.

[He nods, rounding the corner. He's paying attention to where they are going, but he's in no rush to get out]

Sure did. That was a pretty easy one.

[she gave a light laugh, paying absolutely no attention to what direction they were going, but turning smoothly with him.]

Alright, fair enough. I'll bite, what gave it away?

You're an artist, and artists generally have the same weaknesses, I've come to find. [He glances down at her hand before motioning to it.] No nicotine stains on your fingers, so it's not cigarettes. [His eyes travel up her arms to her face.] No track marks that I can see, or any other evidence that give away that you drink or use drugs, except maybe on a social level.

So, that leaves sex and caffeine.

[Sure, they may have sounded more like assumptions, but Caius hadn't spent as long as he had observing people to consider them as such.]

[She glances at her hand as he mentions it with a little flare of her fingers. The most she had was fading ink-stains. They might have sounded like assumptions, but Devi knew the difference between someone using their eyes and mind to make basic notes. Maybe he will prove her wrong.

She nodded with another lift of her eyebrows, impressed.]

Well, you're not wrong.

What other painfully astute observations can you make?

[A moment of silence.]

No laugh lines. You spend far too much time being serious and focused.

When was the last time you had fun?

[Her head tilted slightly to the side.]

The kind of fun that involved laughter? Really? Couple of years. But to be fair, the last place I was didn't leave a lot of room for that. Gebo's a bit better. With documentary titles like '100 ways to clean and love your cat', there's still a little humor to be found out and about.

I'm still holding out for a club to be put in, but I don't think they're taking architectural suggestions.

Shit.. that's a long time. [muttered which turns into a laugh] Hey, I gotta give it to the Nysgod's. At least they have a sense of humor.

[Nods] Yeah, that would be pretty sweet. Or, even just put in a PA system and crank some tunes.

Guess one just has to find ways to amuse themselves. Not that that's hard.

[Devi shrugged, with a smile at his laugh.]

Some of us were lucky enough to get music and stuff from the place they held us before.

But amusement isn't lacking if one's got imagination. [The smile quirks into a smirk, her head tilting down slightly with it.]

That's a double edged sword though, we've got a lot of.. Rambunctious people around.

[He looked ahead, rounding another corner. They were travelling along the edge now, freedom just on the other side of the maze it felt like.

But, he looked back at her, catching that attempt to hide her smirk.]

Exactly. Those people have nothing to worry about.

[A few more steps] Let me guess - the unimaginative ones, right?

[She followed his lead around the corner just as easily as the rest of their turns, marking the broad stone pillars that were the exit a few hundred yards away. Devi was, blissfully, one of those people.]

Not to many unimaginative people here. Rather creative, actually, but I'm waiting on someone to turn into a Zealot and start playing hardball.

[Laughs] Cause you know there's always one in every crowd. It could be entertaining. Unless we're talking Hitler's brand of hardball. That would be .. not so fun.

[If she can help it...] Not quite that severe. No one is keen on that kind of war. It could go a few different ways.

[She shrugged halfheartedly with another little smile.]

We'll see how strong their resolve is.

[He tips his head in sudden realisation] Ah, so this isn't just a generalization. You actually know this person?

[As they come up to and through the exit, Devi flashes an impish grin.]

I try and know all sorts of people, and there is always more then one Candidate for the crazy hat in large groups. I'd hate to say no or yes too soon.

[Devi wasn't one to count her chickens before they hatched.]
