Upcoming Event

Hello, players.

We hope that everyone is settling comfortably into the Wyld setting. But, of course, since we don't want your characters to get too comfortable, we're gearing up for our first Wyld event. The details of the event will come in a future post, but we need to start getting ready ahead of time. Which means this is a plot sign up.

The upcoming event will involve memories: Specifically, truly horrific memories from your characters' past (everyone has 'em, or we wouldn't be playing them!). These memories are going to be revealed in the course of the event.

So here's show it works: If you're interested in having one of your character's memories revealed, comment to the sign-up thread below with a write-up or youtube video of the memory (if your write up is very, very long, we ask that you post it to your own character journal and provide a link to that post). This is purely optional, of course. And you can sign up more than one character, if you so desire.

You may be wondering just how your memory is going to be revealed. We'll explain more about that when we break the event, but for now, what you need to know is that one other character (who signs up for the event with a memory) will be randomly assigned to receive your memory. Again, the magical RNG will determine who gets to see your memory. So make sure it's something you (OOCly) want shared with a potential stranger.

Once again. Everyone who signs up with a memory will be randomly paired up with another character who posts a memory for the plot.

Comment to the sign-up thread with the memory by Wednesday, March 19 to be included in this event.

It's less waking up than coming to, rising up through a drug-fueled haze. Exhaustion and pain keep the mind muddled, to the point that a needle in the arm feels like nothing at all anymore.

The body wants to move, wants to run, but there's no control left to it. There is heaviness in the limbs weighing them down like lead, even if it weren't for the thick leather straps lashed around the body, arms, and legs, keeping the body pressed tight to what feels like an operating table. That must make the men doctors, though some don't bother with the face masks. Their faces are shadow and flesh, noses and beady eyes, pieces rather than whole. Fear. They peer as they might at an insect on a corkboard, and when they talk, it's in German. Some of it is comprehensible, but most of it is too garbled to the ear to understand.

There are other sounds, too. Screaming. It's dulled but clearly human, clearly in agony, but what isn't clear is how far away it is. It could be in the next room. It could be coming from the table itself. Light exists in bright spotlights overhead that obscure the rest of the room, and it bounces off of clipboards and scalpels and wire-rimmed glasses.

The sensations vary, and the doctors appear to be taking notes and conversing amongst themselves. Unvollständig, and it feels like the stomach is trying to eat itself inside out, the urge to retch overwhelming. Entbehrlich, and there's a fire that sears to the bone marrow, through tissue and blood and it is ceaseless, and that pained howling sounds very close indeed. Fingers pry open eyelids with another light to shine in and something warm seems to be dripping from the ears...

Gescheitert.

That word is the worst of all. It means they're going to try it again tomorrow.
