Upcoming Event

Hello, players.

We hope that everyone is settling comfortably into the Wyld setting. But, of course, since we don't want your characters to get too comfortable, we're gearing up for our first Wyld event. The details of the event will come in a future post, but we need to start getting ready ahead of time. Which means this is a plot sign up.

The upcoming event will involve memories: Specifically, truly horrific memories from your characters' past (everyone has 'em, or we wouldn't be playing them!). These memories are going to be revealed in the course of the event.

So here's show it works: If you're interested in having one of your character's memories revealed, comment to the sign-up thread below with a write-up or youtube video of the memory (if your write up is very, very long, we ask that you post it to your own character journal and provide a link to that post). This is purely optional, of course. And you can sign up more than one character, if you so desire.

You may be wondering just how your memory is going to be revealed. We'll explain more about that when we break the event, but for now, what you need to know is that one other character (who signs up for the event with a memory) will be randomly assigned to receive your memory. Again, the magical RNG will determine who gets to see your memory. So make sure it's something you (OOCly) want shared with a potential stranger.

Once again. Everyone who signs up with a memory will be randomly paired up with another character who posts a memory for the plot.

Comment to the sign-up thread with the memory by Wednesday, March 19 to be included in this event.

If one or some of our characters are participating in mind-blocking practice, and want it to seem like it's working, then opting out of this plot makes sense right?

The event has nothing to do with mental ability. The memories are not being snatched out of anyone's head. So you are more than welcome to participate, even if you have such training.

Does it have to be a real memory? Like ... could it be a fake one that your character canonly created (if they happen to have those skills), but didn't actually happen?

It does have to be something that actually happened. If it happened one way and your character remembers it another way, sign-up with the way it actually happened.

(This, of course, is unrelated to AUs or anything of that sort. What happened in an AU happened. It's historical, even if it's not canon.)

just to make sure i am reading this correctly, does the memory need to be a horrible, negative memory in the character's past, or are all memories fair game?

We would like a horrible, negative memory from the character's past. Although interpreting "horrible" is up to you!

How you write it up is entirely up to you. You can write it as a fic or just an outline of events.

Sorry I'm asking this here and not on the post, but I'm on my phone. Will people just see the memories, or experience them?

This will be explained in greater detail later. All I can tell you for now is that they will see the memory. Like watching a YouTube video.

Does my character have to remember this experience. What I'm asking about is something my character experienced, but then, through powers beyond their control, no longer remembers it. The character did remember it for a short time, if that helps.

As long as it's in your character's past, it's kosher. You may have more fun if it's something they remember, just because someone else is seeing it, but anything you want to use works.

How detailed do the memories need to be? I really want to toss Joan in, but I only have vague pieces of what happened to her in the memory I'd like to use. I can put it together into something, but I'm not super good at that. Just want to make sure it doesn't need to be huge.

Honestly, as detailed as you want it to be. Take a look at what some other people are posting. We're running a pretty broad span.

Also, you are more than welcome to supplement canon with headcanon, if you so desire.
