Flash and Substance

Well, since everyone seems to be settling in nicely to Thurisaz, it's time to introduce a little bit of chaos for you.

As you know by now, pretty much any vice imaginable is available to you in the city: Sex, fighting, drum circles, you name it. But, your characters will quickly learn that there is a new vice in town. It's name? Flash!



Err...no. Not that Flash.

Flash is the latest and greatest in illegal and addictive substances. It's a white liquid, about the color and consistency of milk. Getting high is simply a matter of putting a drop or two with an eye dropper into each eye. And how does one feel on Flash? Stronger, faster, more energized. It's amazing on the sex life and if you're a fighter or a pilot or in desperate need to be quick on your feet, Flash is a surefire way to get the edge...

...with the slight problem of the crash. After three or four hours, as you come down from that high, you become irritable, cranky, peckish, and experience an extremely elevated heart rate. And things only get worse if you overdose. Then you're violent, aggressive, and insatiably hungry, plus you're at an extreme risk of heart failure. Oh, and you start bleeding from the eyes.

There is no medical or magical way to bring someone down off of a Flash high. As for treating an overdose, the best cure, as Hesiod's followers will tell you, is to simply lock that person in a room and wait for them to calm down. Or club them over the head. You can recognize someone high on Flash by the change in their eye color:



Ew, right?

So that is Flash for you. Readily available for reasonably low rates, all throughout the city of Thurisaz. Feel like getting your character high? Addicted? Use this post to plot things out.

Okay, so part of Ben's canon is that he was an addict from age 15 up until he got to Bete Noire at 24, and even until he was made to go clean in the city. He's had a few setbacks and when he's in moments of emotional distress, he's more susceptible to his addictions.

Oh wait, he and Pasha are on the outs right now.

So yes, Ben is pretty much in a position to become addicted to this. So, plot with me :D

Well, both as a nurse and a friend of Pasha's, I think Christine would try to help him get clean. She'd probably try talking at first, and if that didn't get through to him, maybe she'd stage an intervention? LOL, I'm not really sure what she'd do. But she'd definitely lock him in a room if he was going through terrible, violent withdrawal.

Yeah, like I mentioned, Bert will most likely pick up on it since Ben's his buddy and one of his things is noticing subtle changes and details. And he will not be very happy at all. So he would definitely step in and yell at Ben.
