Event: A Land of Our Own
Hello, players! As you already know, the game is moving! The situation the candidates will find themselves in, after the move, has been built entirely around the results of the signatures. For the record, over 75% of the people who replied to the OOC post replied that their characters would be signing.
On March 1, a narration and event log will go up, explaining things in greater detail. For now, here are some FAQs about what your characters will be doing in the time leading up to the move.
What can my character pack?
Whatever your character can carry (or convince another PC to carry for them). The Nysgods and NPCs will not be helping characters to carry anything. So, no, you can't bring your bed from Gebo...unless you want to haul it.
You mentioned that bed from Gebo...can my character steal stuff?
Absolutely! The people of Gebo will probably chalk up missing equipment or inventory to a miscalculation and pull extra shifts to compensate for it, as long as they don't see the stolen equipment or see the actual theft. In other words, keep it quiet and keep it hidden. No. No bed. But take as many uniforms as you wish.
Hey, my character got one of those handy-dandy carpet bags that's bigger on the inside. Can they take more stuff than they can carry?
They can take what they can fit into the bag. The mods are not going to police the limits there. We're all intelligent adults, we're going to trust you. A character with a bag could certainly barter favors with someone who needs packing room, however. If your character does not have a bag and needs something to pack in, they will be offered a regular suitcase. Nothing magical about it.
Do I need to declare what my character is packing?
No. We're not going to mod or police that. But it will be helpful for you to have a sense of what your character has with them.
Do characters still need to go to work?
No more than they ever needed to. They are more than welcome to continue working, if they'd like to save up credits to buy extra stuff, but no one will force them.
How will the characters be moving to the new location?
Nysgod magic. All characters will be rounded up into the same area, the day of the event. This does mean that all characters will be together. If your character has been avoiding someone else, they still can. We figure the area will be pretty crowded, so it'll be easy to duck out of sight. Again, we're going to trust you.
What if my character wants to stay in Gebo?
Obviously, the Nysgods can't force a character to leave. That said, we will strongly encourage you to find a reason for your character to go. There will be no moderated events in Gebo once the game setting changes and travel between cities is more or less a no-go for PCs (at present, subject to change). You will have exceedingly limited opportunities for RP if your character stays behind.
What's the new setting going to be like?
That's a very good question. Unfortunately, no characters can seem to get much of an answer. Skokan is vague at best, mostly referring to it as "empty" and "unsettled" and "a plane." OOC, we just don't want to ruin any of the surprises too much. Because there are going to be surprises. A lot of them. Seriously. Trust us.
Hey, Skokan was talking about something along the lines of "Carved Out." What the heck does that mean?
Carving Out is the Nysgod ceremony that ends a Nysgod's life. You can read more about it here. This is all common and public knowledge, readily available to anyone who asks around.
Hold up! My character is totally new and has no idea what's going on!
What a great CR-building opportunity. Talk to the PCs and handwave what you wish from the NPCs.
Waaaaaaaaaaaaait! I still have questionsssssssss!
Ask them here. Once again, we are trying to get away from using plurk to answer mod questions.

Plotting for my boys & Mod Question
So there will be a medical clinic up and running almost immediately when we get to this place. He will also restart the blood bank almost immediately for all the bloodsuckers ;)
As for Ben, he will be sticking to the background for the most part more because I'm so behind on tags it's not funny. The past few weeks have been hard to tag during the weekdays that I end up leaving ToS until the weekend and boomerang as they come in then. But if anyone wants to talk to Ben about what he asked Skokan or such (since Skokan mentioned him in the speech), hit me up in plurk and we can chat.
Also! Mod Question Adjacent to Dagaz: If it's one of the surprises to be answered, that's fine, but does that mean there will be a way to travel back to the city again? It was one of my favorite settings so having a chance to revisit it would be wonderful!
Re: Plotting for my boys & Mod Question
If asked Skokan will comment that there's talk of setting up a rail line between the empty plane and Dagaz.

Christine doesn't care if it's two wooden poles supporting a banana leaf roof, she'll have her clinic again!
Megan's brood
Hook sometimes works in shipping and he's good at slight of hand so chances are he'll steal some stuff before they go. He tried it with stuff at the Temple but it disappeared, so he's not banking on getting stuff out, but he'll give it a go and end up pleased it worked.
Ruby has super strength and will help anyone struggling with their stuff.
Clara is excited for a new location and will be asking the older guard about their trips between cities.
Xae's herd
The Enterprise will probably keep working up until they leave so she can buy things, like a set of her own tools. She's just not a thief.
Arthur will work too. And he may consider stealing a sword from the training room but he's too proud to actually do it. He is going to work on getting himself a weapon once they get to the new location. Arthur definitely wants to set up a training group. For what will depend on what's available in the new location.
Mod Question
Re: Mod Question
There's a small hospital in the administrative building that is open for the candidates.
Re: Mod Question
Re: Mod Question
Yup!
Mod Question
I'm wondering, would it be allowed for candidates to scrounge together and buy enough materials to create a standard-issue food replicator from what's available in Gebo? They have the knowledge certainly, and the ability to adjust the tech to a certain degree. But of course they would need a certain amount of raw materials.
Thoughts?
Part of this is of course, motivated by my desire for Spock to replicate the plomeek soup Christine made him. lol.
Re: Mod Question
They can probably find the parts. Finding a power source, however, maybe a little bit more complicated.
Also, keep in mind, if they want to bring it, they have to be able to carry it.
Re: Mod Question
Potentially would they be able to get a limited supply of electricity (in the form of heavy duty, large batteries) that they can purchase in Gebo? But not infinite amounts, so if they don't find another power source in the new land (and quickly), they won't be able to use it after the batteries run out?
The carrying it part should be fairly easy. Cho has been offering to magic everything to weigh as much as a balloon and Spock is organizing her schedule for that so she doesn't get overworked.
Re: Mod Question
Most power sources are actually magical in nature. It might be possible for characters to find a way to integrate magic with the technology. But this will require A LOT of trial and error.
Nothing found in Gebo can power it, but the PCs may be able to come up with something after a few weeks of trying.
Re: Mod Question
I'll try to remember to ask you guys again in 2-3 months if it's been long enough.
