The DIY Grasp Plot Thickens!

The second half of the Do-It-Yourself Grasp story is on the horizon, so this mod post is here to tell you exactly what's going to happen and allow you to make plans for how your characters interact with the terrible, terrible things to come.

Early in the morning of Day 100 (January 23), Casey is going to assemble the pieces of the DIY Grasp that the PCs have been working on. She'll be putting things together in the backyard, outside of the candidate house. For the love of SCIENCE, she will then, of course, activate the Grasp to see what it can do. What it will do is cause terrible things to happen. See, while the original Grasp, designed by Skokan, draws in people who would be compatible mates for Tristan, the PC version has a few missing pieces. So instead of pulling in potential mates, it will be pulling in completely incompatible monsters that Tristan could never actually marry.

The critters drawn in by the DIY Grasp will then proceed to run wild through the city of Thurisaz, pretty much ripping apart anyone and anything they encounter. The mods will be allowing players to control the monsters as they desire. So it's going to be up to you, yes, specifically you, to stop them!

The Critters
Moblins: These bulldog-headed trolls loom about seven feet tall, carrying spears and nasty tempers. Of all the critters to come through, they'll be the most organized, forming ranks very quickly and defending the ground that they claim. Which, in this case, will be the Serpent's Head. Fortunately, Moblins are carbon-based monsters and can pretty much be destroyed any way you like, be it magic or blunt force or dropping a piano on them. And you will want to destroy them, because they definitely want to destroy you. These guys just live for destruction. They don't have anything resembling sentience, other than a strange military organization. Think of them like ants. Giant. Angry. Murderous ants.
Ebene: These guys are nasty. In their natural state, they may look like liquid mercury, but these guys are shape shifters. Although voiceless, they can, for ten minutes at a time, look like any living thing. Even your room mate. Even your girlfriend. In fact, the only way to tell they're shape shifters is to cut them and watch them bleed silver liquid. They may not want to eat you, but they can, literally, grab hold of you and drown you in their liquid forms. Like all liquids, they can be contained by a sealed container, but even the smallest micro-fracture will allow them to escape. The best way to kill them is to freeze them, using science or magic. Otherwise, you'd better bag them, guys.
Daleks: That's right. Daleks. They're out to destroy anything they view as a threat. Which means you. They're also probably going to try to take over the city. Watch out for the hardware. They'll exterminate you dead, shooting electrical beams of an exceedingly high voltage. Best way to get rid of them? Make them go boom, of course. And spare parts can be salvaged. And if you don't have your Acme dynamite kit handy, aim for their eye.
Wendigos: A face that only a mother could love. A Wendigo is a former human whose cannibalism has transformed him into a creature with superhuman strength and speed that feasts on human flesh. The bad news? It's going to try to eat you. Either it will start to munch on you on the spot, or else it will club you on the head and drag you off to some secluded area, hang you from the ceiling like a cured ham, and save you for a midnight snack. Unless, of course, you have friends willing to rescue you. The good news? Pretty much any kind of natural or supernatural fire will take a Wendigo out, quickly.

The siege of the critters will last for two in-game days, ending the morning of Day 102 (January 29). By this point, a lot of Thurisaz will be damaged and Casey will be missing (gasp!). There will be an optional side-plot dealing with Casey. More information to come later on.

This post is now for you to use as a plotting post. There will be an opening narrative/log kicking off the plot, but players are more than welcome to make their own logs. Your characters can kill monsters, get horribly injured, huddle in foxholes together...anything you want within the confines of the city. Feel free to ping the mods with any questions. And as always, we encourage you to form new CR and plot with new people. With a game as small as ours, it's important to interact with everyone!

Sounds like a plan.

Yes. I give my stamp of approval for Winchester sib asskickings. They will hand them out like candy.

IN FACT I think that Dean, Samantha and the other Dean should try to win back the booze from the Moblins. Because that's the hysterical image sitting in my head at the moment.

When they win, they can toast their victory with whiskey.

Oh, just what Aaron would need in his life. More vampires doing things that make them questionably not the bad guy. In the very least, doing things that make them not his biggest issue.

Mind if Aaron finds him fighting?

/thumbs up

We can definitely do this. We'll see how things shake out once the tagging starts, and we'll figure it out then!

So, while Ben is a good hunter, there are three perfectly good Winchesters in the city that can do that.

That said, Ben has been a leader for his entire adult life protecting people. So him knowing that there are already hunters out there, if no one wants to take charge of it, he will probably work on getting those non-fighters to safety, get the first floor of the house barricaded, etc.

Anyone want to be rescued by the white eyed boy on an adrenaline high?

Her and Dean definitely teaming up. Or all three of them teaming up.
Two Dean's and Sam? Pretty sure that supernatural piece of crap doesn't stand a chance.!

I AGREE WITH WINNING BACK THE BOOZE!
1) Dean works at a bar.
2) ..the booze. WHY IS THE RUM GONE?

So the Winchesters Three think the commandeering of the Serpant's Head by the mobilns is a all around bad idea. They are prepared to launch an assault to take it back and save all the booze within. It will be a noble and epic quest that will earn them much honor and glory and when they're done they can get stupidly drunk.

WHO IS WITH THEM?

Of course. It's clearly the most important location in all of Thurisaz.

On the plus side Samantha doesn't have her gun? So it's only...y'know, melee injuries he has to worry about...

What a fantastic silver lining sob don't go hide she'll probably feel terrible and try to find him after if she clues in fast enough.

Kickin' ass and takin' names, all over Thurisaz.

Well, Ming and Bert both would/will be fighting against the monsters and whatnot because that's what they do, and the defending of the helpless and whatnot.

From an OOC perspective, though, writing battle/fighting/action-heavy violence tags is something that is akin to having teeth pulled for me, and I've been doing almost nothing but that in my other games for the past couple of weeks. :/ So...um...yeah, my tags will likely be very slow in coming if anyone does want to thread with me in that capacity at all.
xochipilli_cursed: (WAT!?)

That always helps!

[personal profile] xochipilli_cursed 2013-01-16 04:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Unless she hits him with magic, he'll recover after a short time spent without straining himself.

Of course, that won't help him when he has teeth coming at his face and something pointy being shoved into his back, but it will help if he survives it!

[personal profile] xochipilli_cursed 2013-01-16 04:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Aaron does not know the importance of this place, but he's hunting the ugly things down. You'll have a werecoyote popping out of the shadows to shank Moblins.
xochipilli_cursed: (Coyote what was that?)

[personal profile] xochipilli_cursed 2013-01-16 04:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Umm... bark?
xochipilli_cursed: (Err)

[personal profile] xochipilli_cursed 2013-01-16 04:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Sure! Even if it's "battle happened, now what goes on inbetween", sort of deal.
unflagging: ([c] He can call the wolves)

[personal profile] unflagging 2013-01-16 04:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Sure, barking is fine too |D

But, no, seriously: this guy'll sort of be sitting on the sidelines and watching. This is not his fight and he doesn't care. He'll just be looking out for himself and admiring the chaos and destruction (he cares about that, at least).

That'd be great! This Spike has a soul--but you know, he's still a bit of a bastard, so there can be some fun shenanigans.

[personal profile] peacekeeperavox 2013-01-16 04:39 pm (UTC)(link)
If someone would hand Darius a weapon and say "Hey, help me/us protect these people," that would be awesome. Boy needs a good, thorough reminder that he was once a soldier.

It just needs to be in or near the form of an order so it gets past the reaction of "Ohshitfuck monsters" and "Ohshitfuck I'm not allowed to fight."

[personal profile] truth_is_cold 2013-01-16 04:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Rhade won't turn down a chance to shoott a Dalek, but man. The Wendigo would definitely set off some panic "MUST KILL IT!" issues coming from the Magog. So if anyone wants some help killing Wendigo or Daleks I have some very new back-up.
