The DIY Grasp Plot Thickens!

The second half of the Do-It-Yourself Grasp story is on the horizon, so this mod post is here to tell you exactly what's going to happen and allow you to make plans for how your characters interact with the terrible, terrible things to come.

Early in the morning of Day 100 (January 23), Casey is going to assemble the pieces of the DIY Grasp that the PCs have been working on. She'll be putting things together in the backyard, outside of the candidate house. For the love of SCIENCE, she will then, of course, activate the Grasp to see what it can do. What it will do is cause terrible things to happen. See, while the original Grasp, designed by Skokan, draws in people who would be compatible mates for Tristan, the PC version has a few missing pieces. So instead of pulling in potential mates, it will be pulling in completely incompatible monsters that Tristan could never actually marry.

The critters drawn in by the DIY Grasp will then proceed to run wild through the city of Thurisaz, pretty much ripping apart anyone and anything they encounter. The mods will be allowing players to control the monsters as they desire. So it's going to be up to you, yes, specifically you, to stop them!

The Critters
Moblins: These bulldog-headed trolls loom about seven feet tall, carrying spears and nasty tempers. Of all the critters to come through, they'll be the most organized, forming ranks very quickly and defending the ground that they claim. Which, in this case, will be the Serpent's Head. Fortunately, Moblins are carbon-based monsters and can pretty much be destroyed any way you like, be it magic or blunt force or dropping a piano on them. And you will want to destroy them, because they definitely want to destroy you. These guys just live for destruction. They don't have anything resembling sentience, other than a strange military organization. Think of them like ants. Giant. Angry. Murderous ants.
Ebene: These guys are nasty. In their natural state, they may look like liquid mercury, but these guys are shape shifters. Although voiceless, they can, for ten minutes at a time, look like any living thing. Even your room mate. Even your girlfriend. In fact, the only way to tell they're shape shifters is to cut them and watch them bleed silver liquid. They may not want to eat you, but they can, literally, grab hold of you and drown you in their liquid forms. Like all liquids, they can be contained by a sealed container, but even the smallest micro-fracture will allow them to escape. The best way to kill them is to freeze them, using science or magic. Otherwise, you'd better bag them, guys.
Daleks: That's right. Daleks. They're out to destroy anything they view as a threat. Which means you. They're also probably going to try to take over the city. Watch out for the hardware. They'll exterminate you dead, shooting electrical beams of an exceedingly high voltage. Best way to get rid of them? Make them go boom, of course. And spare parts can be salvaged. And if you don't have your Acme dynamite kit handy, aim for their eye.
Wendigos: A face that only a mother could love. A Wendigo is a former human whose cannibalism has transformed him into a creature with superhuman strength and speed that feasts on human flesh. The bad news? It's going to try to eat you. Either it will start to munch on you on the spot, or else it will club you on the head and drag you off to some secluded area, hang you from the ceiling like a cured ham, and save you for a midnight snack. Unless, of course, you have friends willing to rescue you. The good news? Pretty much any kind of natural or supernatural fire will take a Wendigo out, quickly.

The siege of the critters will last for two in-game days, ending the morning of Day 102 (January 29). By this point, a lot of Thurisaz will be damaged and Casey will be missing (gasp!). There will be an optional side-plot dealing with Casey. More information to come later on.

This post is now for you to use as a plotting post. There will be an opening narrative/log kicking off the plot, but players are more than welcome to make their own logs. Your characters can kill monsters, get horribly injured, huddle in foxholes together...anything you want within the confines of the city. Feel free to ping the mods with any questions. And as always, we encourage you to form new CR and plot with new people. With a game as small as ours, it's important to interact with everyone!

Where Aaron comes from, there are three forces that basically all existence is made up of. One of the three forces has gone insane/is trying to end the world, and from what he understands, vampires are one of the many side effects of that.

Still, he's new to this and moral grays and what his role actually calls for are something he has to come to terms with. So, perfect.

Aaron's really going to need someone to tell him what the hell to do about Daleks. He is sooo ill equiped for that sort of fight.

Look at me typoing already. Startin' the day off right, Binky.

Rhade's can probably do the math and put together taking out the eye-stalk pretty quick. It's the getting things that go boom part that would be harder.

Aaron is big on making things go boom. He's creative.

Though, since he's new, it'd probably involve dropping something large from somewhere high and hoping for the best.

Hahaha, yeah, I'm discussing the feasibility of just referencing battles without actually having to play them out.

I love reading heavy action, not so much writing it. But if Bert's not rushing out to meet a threat, he's probably dead!

Maria

[personal profile] abetterhappyending 2013-01-16 05:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Maria is completely and utterly far too normal for all this shit. Basically a lot of running and being terrified and hitting monsters with her purse and running some more. Just a lady from the 1950s way in over her head, so if you want your character to be awesome in front of her, she's your gal.

probably a lot of startled yelping and hand-over-mouth shenanigans. and getting the hell out of there so if we want interaction afterwards we'll have to corner her somehow. XD

so basically yes.

Aaron is probably going to lie about the monster thing for as long as he can. Claim he was hiding but fail horribly at not defending said monster if someone comments about it.

Not a problem! Trying to convince people you aren't a monster is tough, even to other monsters.

Zoey will definitely be fighting the monsters, as she is wont to do. Question; would it have been possible for her to pilfer a sword from the fighting ring? Or perhaps some throwing knives? Or both?

On the whole fighting front... I love fight scenes but they are a pain in the ass to write, so I may not be the most prompt of taggers at times.

I would love to have Zoey fighting side by side/back to back/whatever with Rhade at some point.

Can we have a Bert and Zoey kicking ass together thread at some point? Or getting their asses kicked before rallying and kicking ass? Really, anything works.

Re: Diana (and Insa?)

[personal profile] cordelisse 2013-01-16 06:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Oooh! Can Zoey and Diana have a thread? Zoey should so find out about Diana's vampirism

[personal profile] diana_abel 2013-01-16 06:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Pilfered swords are acceptable. And as for fighting scenes, since we're giving control of the critters to the players, you can narrate a lot of it out in a single tag.

Sounds like a good idea. Could also bring back flashbacks from Arkham?

Only the Winchesters would fight to protect the booze.

Diana will be in and out, since her best bet is against the Moblins. Depending on how people respond to the whole "Oh, that girl is a vampire" thing, she may end up running to hide behind Dean.

Perhaps a bit of Zoey and Spike kicking ass or some such?

The thought of Zoey rescuing Tony amuses the crap out of me, I will admit.
cordelisse: (playful)

[personal profile] cordelisse 2013-01-16 06:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Awesomesauce! Zoey shall have pilfered a sword. She's going to be so happy! Ooh, that's cool.

Hells yeah there ought to be Arkham!flashbacks.

Lokiii

[personal profile] sorcerous 2013-01-16 06:51 pm (UTC)(link)
There are a couple routes I can go with Loki. One, him still valiantly pretending he's a good guy and helping people clean things up. Or two, conveniently vanishing when the destruction gets heavy, and either finding a way to urge it on, or to take advantage of it somehow. Maybe using the confusion to target some people he doesn't like? Which would include most of the Marvel cast. Though he would try to do it in a way that didn't offer any consequences for him.

Keyword: try.

Any thoughts?

Cas and Diana should totally have some action! I seem to remember them being totally awesome in a fight together before.
