[She glanced over at the door, taking in her apparent company before looking back at the lit felt. Devi leaned over, lining up her shot and crack. The cue stopped as it slammed into the ball nearest to the middle left side pocket and Devi grinned at him as she straightened back out., her target falling neatly into the pocket.]

Cues are right there and apparently you're solids.

[So he can do what he would himself.]

[That was a good enough invitation to him. He goes and picks up a cue stick and waits to see if she would miss so he could have a turn.]

As often as I can.

[She said as she rounded another corner, critical eye judging the cue ball against her stripes.]

Pool is the only thing that hasn't changed.

[Another shot is lined and taken, cue ball rolling out and striking but she was off by a fraction and the stripped ball knocked the pocket. Devi stepped back to give him whatever room he needed, with invitation to the table.]

Besides, pool should count as therapy.

[He looks at the table for a moment but smirks at her statement.]

I agree. It's nice to be able to smack things around a table to let out some frustration.

[He lines up a shot and hits it in.]

People also use bartenders as therapists, which I happen to be. Need to get anything off that lovely chest of yours?

[She said it casually and lightly, leaning back against the wall with a small smirk.]

Tending bar would at least give you the experience to deal with some of the people that are around here.

[Julian laughs.]

Good line. Yeah? Are there some drinkers around here? I noticed wine at lunch and dinner, but I haven't discovered where the good stuff is.

You're the one who set it up.

They've got everything, you just have to ask for it. There's very little it seems they can't get their hands on. And I think most of the drinkers drink alone here. There isn't a bar to be had.

Oh now that's good to know. Although a bar around here would be nice. It would give people somewhere more to gather than that sitting room- not that it isn't a nice spot too. What's your poison of choice?

I don't drink that often. Not without reason, anyway. I bet a few other people would enjoy it though.

[He had forgotten about the game briefly. He sets up his shot and it goes left of center.]

[She stepped up to the table, hand shifting up and down her cue stick as she lines her shot, bent to see the line down her stick. A glance is given to Julian before she shoot, sinking her ball.]

Sake works quickly and well, and I don't get that bitter beer face.

My shot. It was pathetic.

[He watches her and smirks when she looks back at him.]

Sake is an excellent choice. Beer is an acquired taste and some people just never get it. I'll admit so far, I haven't found anything I don't care for. From wine to whiskey to beer, I can appreciate it.

[She finds another suitable shot and takes it, speaking as the ball rolls in.]

I'll drink most anything from México too. Including beer. I just don't care for darker brews.

[Another shot is taken and it glances sending Devi stepping back for his turn.]

They have some good stuff. Never been but always wanted to see it. Of course I lived a lot closer to the other border. I've checked out Canada just to say I did.

[He goes and sets up his shot.]

I was pulled from San Jose, mid nineties. But the Nysgods took me from somewhere else so this isn't a new kind of rodeo.

Same here. I am originally from Ohio, but I just came from Bete Noire. Heard of it?

Can't say I have. I'd tell you where I was, but I know you won't have a clue, so...

[She shrugs.]

Does Ohio count as part of the great Midwest? I've heard horror stories about corn fields and little blond children to trust going over the continental divide.

It was called the City of Sin and had some strange Biblical references. Mostly it was just a run down city with high crime and could mess with your mind and emotions. Still... I'm hoping to find a way for this Grasp to send me back.

[He chuckles and shakes his hair at her.]

Have a problem with blondes? And yes it is. There are a lot of corn fields, but Columbus was a decent sized city.

[She chuckled.]

No, no problem with blondes but if you go all Village of the Damned on me..

[He misses his shot again and lets her have her turn.]

[She steps around the table again, eyeing her last three balls.]

Good thing we don't have money on this. You're not half bad.

Really? I was kind of thinking you were kicking my ass.

[He laughs.]

It's hard to gamble though when we're given everything we could possibly want.

[She smirked and sunk a ball, as though to prove a point.]

They can never give us everything we possibly want. This is all just a nice window dressing.

[She bends again, lining and taking her shot, which missed.]

And they will take as much as they give.

And yeah, I was just meaning material-wise. There's a lot they can't give us...

[He trails off as he focuses on her ass as she bends over. She was hot. He misses that last thing she says.]

Terribly so, yes.

Even material wise. I had to hunt for a few days before I found black paint. They said they didn't know and advised me to go looking.

[He's lucky she didn't notice. She steps back and tilts her head.]
