Blue Room

The others complain about the monotony of their internment. The frustration. Loki would argue that it is only their personal shortcomings that blind them to the possibilities within the Waiting Room. The stay has not always been pleasant, but it has never been boring. There are magical puzzles to solve, worlds to learn of, people to study...

...and, if he should ever lack for or grow tired of those, there are books.

Truth be told, he had resisted the nostalgic pull for quite a while. It seemed like such a frivolous concern, and too wrapped up in sentimental memories. But it's been so long since he was able to really enjoy books.

So he visits, on occasion, and thumbs across the spines of books in search of something that catches his interest.

Re: Blue Room

"Loki," she says in surprise, standing in the doorway.

She's only just arrived, only just spoken to Skokan. She had barely taken any of this in, let alone had time to adjust. And now this was another surprise.

Of course, she didn't expect him to have any idea who she was. She recognized him through Tony's information, but...

"Loki, isn't it?" she asked, instantly composed again.

[desceptre]

Her familiar tone had given him pause, and now he took a step closer, studying her face for anything he recognized. There was nothing - and he did not forget easily.

"You know me?"

"No," she lies snoothly.

"Someone said a man named Loki was in here." And as confident and serene as if she had no idea what this man was capable of, she strolled to the drinks (why alcohol was in a library, she has no idea) and began making herself a martini with extra olives

Well, that doesn't quite scan, does it? Not when she sounded so surprised to see him.

But alright. He'll play along for the moment. He turns to watch her cross the room.

"And you came looking."

[girl_friday]

"Well, I was curious." She poured herself the alcohol with a steady hand, shrugging a shoulder. "Funny name, isn't it? I'm not sure I'd name my son after the trickster god."

She paused, swishing the liquid around in the glass.

"Especially after that whole story about the horse. I'd be afraid he'd just be teased for it in school." Pepper had absolutely no idea what had gotten into her, why she was doing this. Maybe Tony's influence on her, or maybe she just assumed if he had power here, he would have used it to get out. "Were your parents Norse mythology enthusiasts, or did they just pick it out of a baby name book?"

I just rolled 4-6-4

[Tony's in the bathroom. There's a lot of booze. He's horny as all hell. These things are not really that unusual. Nor is it true that they've never happened in conjunction. But he's probably never been drunk and horny in a hot tub in the unisex, semi-public bathroom of a other-world facility for housing potential princesses.

Probably.]

[She walks inside, her white towel neatly wrapped up around her with her hair pinned up. She is startled upon seeing Tony, not because of the situation, but because he is in here at all.]

Tony! I'm sorry, the door was open and I--

[And then she takes in the rest, her brow creasing as she realizes what's going in.]

Oh my god. You're drunk. In a public bathroom.

[Tony blinks at her, taking in the towel. A lazy leer blossoms across his face.]

Yes I am. D'you know what else? I'm naked.

[He wiggles in the tub as if to demonstrate this. The water is warm. It feels nice but not nearly nice enough.]

[girl_friday]

Tony, why are you drunk? This is hardly the place and someone could sneak up in you in here.

[She walks over, looking more amused than genuinely upset.] Am I interrupting your alone time?

[fullondiva]

Why not? [He shrugs, water swirling around him. He leans back and takes another sip.] I'm here, booze is here, the water's nice, and nothing. Ever. Happens.

[He looks up at her, pleading.]

Aren't you bored, Pepper?

[girl_friday]

I'm never bored. I constantly have you to look after. It's every young girl's dream.

[She reaches out to try and pluck the drink from his hand.]

Come on. That's enough.

[fullondiva]

[He grins sloppily at her.]

No it's not. You need to drink too, Pepper Potts. Potts, Pepper. Here.

[He's let her take his glass, but produces a bottle from the side of the tub and pours more into it, before taking a swig from the bottle for himself.]

[She sits on the edge of the tub, watching him curiously.]

You asked if I'm bored. Aren't you?

[fullondiva]

[Tony has to think about that.]

S'that a trick question?

[girl_friday]

No. This just seems like old habits dying hard.

[She gestures vaguely.]

Drunk in public, flirting with the first woman to stumble in on you. You're on a new planet. Aren't you curious?

[fullondiva]

[He frowns at her, sitting up a little straighter. He's had some practice being drunk, after all. It's like an art.]

'Course I'm curious. Been all over this place, no way out. Some sort of force fields, no visible power supply, no access through terminals. And how do you know you're the first woman to stumble in? This isn't a habit, Pepper. It's coping.

[girl_friday]

[She reaches out to adjust some of his hair that's fallen into his face.]

Your "coping" is going to kill you by way of liver disease before that reactor ever gets a chance.

[fullondiva]

[He's not listening. He's leaning into her hand, craving touch, anything. He's drunk and he's lonely, dammit.]

It's just tonight, Pepper. Just once, stop trying to be my mom.

[girl_friday]

Tony...[She strokes his cheek gently, fingers light against his warm, wet skin.]

I don't try to be your mother. I try to be your--[A pause.]--I don't try to be your mother.

[fullondiva]

[He looks up at her, eyes wide and a little vague.]

Yeah. [His voice has gone soft as he looks at her. No, he doesn't think about her like a mother. Not at all.] Feels good.

[girl_friday]

I know.

[There's a fraction of hesitation. And then she's slid the towel off and discarded it, and she is getting into the tub with him.]

[fullondiva]

[This? This is so much better than being drunk and horny and alone. He watches as Pepper slides into the water with him, wondering for a second if he's dreaming again but deciding, no, this is way too Peppery to be his fantasy. Even if it's strikingly similar. He shifts to both make room for her and make sure she has to be close to him--it's complicated, but he's a genius. He brushes some hair back from her forehead, unconsciously mirroring her earlier gesture, but he gets her face wet in the process.]

[girl_friday]

[She just smiles, and she leans her face against his touch for a small moment.]

Come here. [Then she's pulled away and is drawing his head against her shoulder. Despite the warning not to be maternal, it's a comforting gesture, not a sexual one. Not yet, anyway.]
