Blue Room

The others complain about the monotony of their internment. The frustration. Loki would argue that it is only their personal shortcomings that blind them to the possibilities within the Waiting Room. The stay has not always been pleasant, but it has never been boring. There are magical puzzles to solve, worlds to learn of, people to study...

...and, if he should ever lack for or grow tired of those, there are books.

Truth be told, he had resisted the nostalgic pull for quite a while. It seemed like such a frivolous concern, and too wrapped up in sentimental memories. But it's been so long since he was able to really enjoy books.

So he visits, on occasion, and thumbs across the spines of books in search of something that catches his interest.

It's really unfair to call something a tavern when there isn't any booze. Well, Eliot and Cho finally got around to fixing that.

The liquor is fermented from nutrient paste. It's mostly tasteless and burns like nail varnish in your throat, but it'll get you good and drunk. As evidenced by Eliot's grin as he slides a freshly-poured cup across the table.

"Come!" he says, loftily, in an affected accent. "Join our prestigious society of wastrels and vagabonds!"

Only to stop dead when she saw all the alcohol stacked against the wall. And the man standing there. Really, a bathroom wasn't the weirdest place she'd found alcohol hidden away, but in her mood it undid most of what the water had done.

[It takes a lot to get Eliot to throw an actual fit. He's seen a lot of fucked-up shit in his time, and even here he's been able to stay mostly unflappable.

But this place just keeps piling it on, and somehow, this was the last straw. Eliot doesn't even know what happened - some kind of curse, or what. All he knows is that since he woke up this morning, he hasn't been able to speak.

But certainly everybody heard that glass shatter against the wall of his bedroom, especially with the door ajar.

Eliot flops himself down at the foot of his bed, knees folded up toward his chest, and buries his face in his hands.]

But today, but this morning, he'd come up and found the shattered pots, the trees torn from their beds, the ruined foliage. And now it was afternoon, his hands were black with soil, and he was nowhere near done putting it all right, but he couldn't stop working.

No, really. All he had wanted was to check out this place's library, just to see if it had anything worthwhile for him to read. He most certainly wasn't expecting to find a corpse right in the middle of the room. That most certainly was not an okay thing to find.

He's been standing near the door ever since he walked in. That was half an hour ago. Since then, his thoughts have turned from "oh god why." to "oh god what do I do with this thing." ]
