The DIY Grasp Plot Thickens!

The second half of the Do-It-Yourself Grasp story is on the horizon, so this mod post is here to tell you exactly what's going to happen and allow you to make plans for how your characters interact with the terrible, terrible things to come.

Early in the morning of Day 100 (January 23), Casey is going to assemble the pieces of the DIY Grasp that the PCs have been working on. She'll be putting things together in the backyard, outside of the candidate house. For the love of SCIENCE, she will then, of course, activate the Grasp to see what it can do. What it will do is cause terrible things to happen. See, while the original Grasp, designed by Skokan, draws in people who would be compatible mates for Tristan, the PC version has a few missing pieces. So instead of pulling in potential mates, it will be pulling in completely incompatible monsters that Tristan could never actually marry.

The critters drawn in by the DIY Grasp will then proceed to run wild through the city of Thurisaz, pretty much ripping apart anyone and anything they encounter. The mods will be allowing players to control the monsters as they desire. So it's going to be up to you, yes, specifically you, to stop them!

The Critters
Moblins: These bulldog-headed trolls loom about seven feet tall, carrying spears and nasty tempers. Of all the critters to come through, they'll be the most organized, forming ranks very quickly and defending the ground that they claim. Which, in this case, will be the Serpent's Head. Fortunately, Moblins are carbon-based monsters and can pretty much be destroyed any way you like, be it magic or blunt force or dropping a piano on them. And you will want to destroy them, because they definitely want to destroy you. These guys just live for destruction. They don't have anything resembling sentience, other than a strange military organization. Think of them like ants. Giant. Angry. Murderous ants.
Ebene: These guys are nasty. In their natural state, they may look like liquid mercury, but these guys are shape shifters. Although voiceless, they can, for ten minutes at a time, look like any living thing. Even your room mate. Even your girlfriend. In fact, the only way to tell they're shape shifters is to cut them and watch them bleed silver liquid. They may not want to eat you, but they can, literally, grab hold of you and drown you in their liquid forms. Like all liquids, they can be contained by a sealed container, but even the smallest micro-fracture will allow them to escape. The best way to kill them is to freeze them, using science or magic. Otherwise, you'd better bag them, guys.
Daleks: That's right. Daleks. They're out to destroy anything they view as a threat. Which means you. They're also probably going to try to take over the city. Watch out for the hardware. They'll exterminate you dead, shooting electrical beams of an exceedingly high voltage. Best way to get rid of them? Make them go boom, of course. And spare parts can be salvaged. And if you don't have your Acme dynamite kit handy, aim for their eye.
Wendigos: A face that only a mother could love. A Wendigo is a former human whose cannibalism has transformed him into a creature with superhuman strength and speed that feasts on human flesh. The bad news? It's going to try to eat you. Either it will start to munch on you on the spot, or else it will club you on the head and drag you off to some secluded area, hang you from the ceiling like a cured ham, and save you for a midnight snack. Unless, of course, you have friends willing to rescue you. The good news? Pretty much any kind of natural or supernatural fire will take a Wendigo out, quickly.

The siege of the critters will last for two in-game days, ending the morning of Day 102 (January 29). By this point, a lot of Thurisaz will be damaged and Casey will be missing (gasp!). There will be an optional side-plot dealing with Casey. More information to come later on.

This post is now for you to use as a plotting post. There will be an opening narrative/log kicking off the plot, but players are more than welcome to make their own logs. Your characters can kill monsters, get horribly injured, huddle in foxholes together...anything you want within the confines of the city. Feel free to ping the mods with any questions. And as always, we encourage you to form new CR and plot with new people. With a game as small as ours, it's important to interact with everyone!

I am up for either him seeing her use magic, or him being the accidential target of her sword, bow or magic.

Aaron is going to be a 6 foot+ tall werecoyote fighting with tooth, claw and a large bone knife. All jumping out of hiding at other monsters and possibly not noticing that others are about to open fire.

Or, if you don't get the chance but want to run monsters, I am up for that too.

That all sounds like fun. If he looked like a monster and Cho was just reacting, she would definitely attack him. And she has a couple of spells that could leave marks, if he isn't going to transform back before the end of the fight. If she realized that she'd hurt him, she would try to make up for it. With food. And hugs. idk

He's going to hide what he is still, so probably going to run away when he starts getting attacked by people who aren't monsters. After he makes sure the monsters are going to lose the fight.

Cool. Won't use those spells, then. But when you decide you want people to start finding out, Cho may be a good person to kind of test it on? I say that only because if she promises him she won't say anything, she really won't. She's kept some pretty serious secrets in games already.

If you just want him to get hurt in normal ways, she can put an arrow in his shoulder. Or stab him.

Sometime! He is fairly new and I am pretty sure he's going to get outed by someone with powers anyways.

Arrow, stabbing or magic works by the way. Magic will take him a lot longer to heal than the rest, but it might be fun to force him to hide injuries.

Awesome. I'm going to put up an open thread for Cho once the fight goes up. I'll link it here and you can pick whether you want her to get him from a distance or up close and we'll go from there. Sound good?
