Event: Species Swapping Shenanigans

While Hesiod and many other Nysgods would like to believe that they are the only race in the Known Worlds who know of and access the Wyld, this is hardly the case. In fact, as it turns out, the Wyld is also the mating ground for several demonoid species. And guess what time of the year it is!
Starting on Day 252, the candidates may begin to notice strange music in the air. Some of it is flute, some of it is wordless vocals. Anyone who investigates may find themselves led to small ponds in the forest, damp crevices in the mountains, or the farthest corners of the beach, underneath rock overhangs. There, they will see a strange and beautiful race of demons. These are Alastrians. Built like slender humanoids, they have pale, green skin, the color of mint toothpaste. Although they are largely androgynous, the females have breasts. Both males and females wear their hair incredibly long and the colors come in a wide range of pastels, seemingly at random. As far as clothing is concerned, they seem to favor skintight bodysocks in dark, earthy tones. The careful observer might notice that Alastrians have retractable claws and wings, both black.
Observers will need to be careful. Although anyone can, from afar, spot the demons, paired off two-by-two, holding hands and touching their heads together as a white light passes between them, anyone who gets too close will be detected. Alastrians have noses like bloodhounds and the second they smell outsiders, they will scamper off, too fast to be caught.
In their flight, the Alastrians' hair may happen to catch on some stones or branches. The hair is beautiful and wispy, no matter the color. It also happens to be a fantastic conductor of power. In the Harry Potter world, Alastrian hair might serve as a remarkable wand core. In the Wyld, however, it will cause a bit of a different problem.
Should two characters happen to touch a piece of Alastrian hair at the same time, that hair is going to do exactly what it's supposed to do: Conduct power. Thanks to the Wyld, this will result in the two characters being thrown apart and knocked unconscious by a wave of power. When they wake up, they will not remember the last ten minutes. But that probably won't be their biggest concern because they will have switched species. The swap will last for two IC days, after which, the Wyld will set things right again, knocking them both unconscious and allowing them to wake up as themselves again.
And now for some FAQs...
Do I have to participate in this plot? I don't really like it.
Participation is entirely optional, as always. We do hope you'll, at least, be willing to interact with some of your swapped friends, though!
Who do I get to swap with?
Anyone you want. Since there was some complaints about the memory plot being too mod-controlled, we're opening this one up to you. You may swap with anyone you wish. Of course, as always, we encourage you to use this plot to make new CR. We're also going to ask that you do not swap with any of your own characters.
Can I swap more than once?
Yes and no. Every swap must run the course of a full two days IC. That said, your character may swap again with someone else after they turn back. The reason why we're instituting ten minutes of amnesia is so that it takes longer for PCs to realize that it's the Alastrian hair that's causing the swapping. By Day 256, the Alastrians will be gone and their hair will gradually drift away. Therefore, you can swap one or two times, as you wish.
So what does this swap entail, exactly?
You and your partner will swap species. This includes everything from powers to appearance. Your character will retain their own memories, however. And just because they have an ability, that doesn't mean they automatically know how to use it!
My character is a human with special abilities. Can they swap with a baseline human?
Yes. For the purpose of this plot, we're going to count mutants, wizards, Jedi, witches, vessels, etc. as separate species from baseline humans. You can negotiate this with your scene partner(s). We trust your judgment when it comes to your own characters and their abilities.
Will our characters remember everything they did during the swap, once it's over?
Yes. Everything but the last ten minutes of their time swapped, just as they won't remember the ten minutes leading up to the swap.
Hey! I'd like to talk to one of those Alastrians. Would it be possible to catch one?
No. It's not possible to catch an Alastrian. However, there are going to be some Alastrian NPCs (lovingly played by Wizera and Arma) who will be available to chat. An open log will go up, probably on Day 253. MCU and Star Wars casts, please be advised, one of the NPCs is going to be PBed by a (green) Natalie Portman. If you wish to avoid dealing with facetwin shenanigans, check in with the mods when the log goes up.
But I voted for the musical plot...
The vote was a very close call. The mods would like to encourage the players who were interested in the musical plot to pursue it. We are willing to help out. It just won't be part of the metaplot, like this one. Talk to each other! The Wyld is a place full of possibilities and we have a lot of magical characters. There is so much room for things to go wrong! In a musical way!
Wizera, you are the worst at FAQs. I still have so many questions!
Feel free to ask them in the appropriate sub-thread below. Otherwise, you are free to use this post as a plotting post.
