The random number generator has spoken. And joining Insa on the quest to find Casey will be...

...drum roll please...

1. Spike
2. Zoey Westen
3. Pasha Chekov

The log will be going up on Sunday morning! In the meanwhile though, I have a few things for the participants to do, to prepare.

First of all, please take a few minute to either Google image search or Polyvore up a D&D style costume for your character. It does not have to be gender specific. It also does not (and probably should not be) something your character would wear willingly. This will be a part of the plot.

Second, if you could, give me a few sentences about your character's father. I'm looking for a quick, down and dirty physical description, mannerisms, and relationship to your character. Please note that your character does not have to know/remember this if their backstory doesn't permit it.

Finally, in the interest of moving the log along as fast as possible, please consider your schedule for the next two-ish weeks and let everyone know if there are any days or evenings you think you might be able to boomerang. If the players have corresponding days, we'll try to boomerang on them. If not, no matter!

I'm very much looking forward to torturing taking you all out on an adventure!

The second half of the Do-It-Yourself Grasp story is on the horizon, so this mod post is here to tell you exactly what's going to happen and allow you to make plans for how your characters interact with the terrible, terrible things to come.

Early in the morning of Day 100 (January 23), Casey is going to assemble the pieces of the DIY Grasp that the PCs have been working on. She'll be putting things together in the backyard, outside of the candidate house. For the love of SCIENCE, she will then, of course, activate the Grasp to see what it can do. What it will do is cause terrible things to happen. See, while the original Grasp, designed by Skokan, draws in people who would be compatible mates for Tristan, the PC version has a few missing pieces. So instead of pulling in potential mates, it will be pulling in completely incompatible monsters that Tristan could never actually marry.

The critters drawn in by the DIY Grasp will then proceed to run wild through the city of Thurisaz, pretty much ripping apart anyone and anything they encounter. The mods will be allowing players to control the monsters as they desire. So it's going to be up to you, yes, specifically you, to stop them!

The Critters
Moblins: These bulldog-headed trolls loom about seven feet tall, carrying spears and nasty tempers. Of all the critters to come through, they'll be the most organized, forming ranks very quickly and defending the ground that they claim. Which, in this case, will be the Serpent's Head. Fortunately, Moblins are carbon-based monsters and can pretty much be destroyed any way you like, be it magic or blunt force or dropping a piano on them. And you will want to destroy them, because they definitely want to destroy you. These guys just live for destruction. They don't have anything resembling sentience, other than a strange military organization. Think of them like ants. Giant. Angry. Murderous ants.
Ebene: These guys are nasty. In their natural state, they may look like liquid mercury, but these guys are shape shifters. Although voiceless, they can, for ten minutes at a time, look like any living thing. Even your room mate. Even your girlfriend. In fact, the only way to tell they're shape shifters is to cut them and watch them bleed silver liquid. They may not want to eat you, but they can, literally, grab hold of you and drown you in their liquid forms. Like all liquids, they can be contained by a sealed container, but even the smallest micro-fracture will allow them to escape. The best way to kill them is to freeze them, using science or magic. Otherwise, you'd better bag them, guys.
Daleks: That's right. Daleks. They're out to destroy anything they view as a threat. Which means you. They're also probably going to try to take over the city. Watch out for the hardware. They'll exterminate you dead, shooting electrical beams of an exceedingly high voltage. Best way to get rid of them? Make them go boom, of course. And spare parts can be salvaged. And if you don't have your Acme dynamite kit handy, aim for their eye.
Wendigos: A face that only a mother could love. A Wendigo is a former human whose cannibalism has transformed him into a creature with superhuman strength and speed that feasts on human flesh. The bad news? It's going to try to eat you. Either it will start to munch on you on the spot, or else it will club you on the head and drag you off to some secluded area, hang you from the ceiling like a cured ham, and save you for a midnight snack. Unless, of course, you have friends willing to rescue you. The good news? Pretty much any kind of natural or supernatural fire will take a Wendigo out, quickly.

The siege of the critters will last for two in-game days, ending the morning of Day 102 (January 29). By this point, a lot of Thurisaz will be damaged and Casey will be missing (gasp!). There will be an optional side-plot dealing with Casey. More information to come later on.

This post is now for you to use as a plotting post. There will be an opening narrative/log kicking off the plot, but players are more than welcome to make their own logs. Your characters can kill monsters, get horribly injured, huddle in foxholes together...anything you want within the confines of the city. Feel free to ping the mods with any questions. And as always, we encourage you to form new CR and plot with new people. With a game as small as ours, it's important to interact with everyone!

By majority rule, the DIY Grasp Plot will culminate on Day 100. This means, it will begin on January 23.

More details to follow as the date approaches.

This is directed to Team Science and Team Magic members:

Would it be useful for you to have a group log with an NPC you can question about Nysgod science or magic? The mod team really wants to get people mingling, particularly outside of their canons. Would group logs be of use to you? Or would you rather make your own logs with your teammates?

Drop a quick comment to let me know!

This post is to supplement plotting for Casey’s “brilliant” plan to build a Grasp. Since not everything can be worked out IC, use this post to figure out what team your character will be joining and what they’ll be doing on the team.

Please comment below, to the threads marked “Team Science” or “Team Magic” to let me know which team your character is signing up for (you can sign up for a team without tagging into the party log, if you like). You may then make your own threads to plot with other players about what tasks your characters are going to attempt. I’m also going to set up a thread for you to ask me any questions, once you’ve figured out what your character is going to be doing. Feel free to set up your own logs, doing research, scrounging for materials, or bickering with other PCs about how the work should be done.

The plan, right now, is for the players to test-drive their own Grasp on Day 92, unless someone decides to horribly sabotage it or the characters simply can’t get along. Of course, terrible, awful things will be happening when the device is activated.

We want to use this event primarily for everyone to have the chance to build CR, especially outside of your casts! And don’t worry, when things go wrong, you’re going to be kept busy! More details will follow as the date of the disaster approaches.

Hey, all. This post is being thrown up by popular request.

As you may have realized, you are no longer staying in the Waiting Room, which means you are no longer subject to Skokan's strict room assignments. In fact, Hesiod and his followers don't really care where you sleep. You've been given a house. It has half a dozen rooms, you can split up however you want. The house is everything the Waiting Room is not, as if someone had tried to make them as different as possible. The bottom floor is all open, revealing a common seating area and kitchen, with warm walls, an eclectic display of old furniture and pillows and art, and a spiral wooden staircase that led to the floor above. The bedrooms are upstairs. Food is provided, but that is the only essential that you don't have to pay for.

We're throwing up this post to let you fight it out over where your characters are sleeping and who they're sleeping with (wink, wink).

To make life easier, we're going to number the bedrooms in a straightforward manner: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.

Use this plot to sort out those details.

Hello, everyone! An RNG was rolled for the plot sign up from a few days ago and our selected volunteers are:

1. Red
2. Natasha
3. Peeta

If your character was selected and you do not want to participate, let me know. Otherwise, please prepare information about your character's ideal life and comment below. This can be as unrealistic as any daydream. Past mistakes undone, dead people alive, married to the love of their life, living with a harem. If your character would ideally like to be royalty or superbly rich or look like Scarlett Johansson (oh wait) or have the power to fly, hit us with that info. Be as specific as you can be, give us as many details as you can.

For characters who did not get selected there will still be opportunities for you with this plot, if you want to take them on. That information will come later :)
