Updating the Training Spreadsheet!

From Ben's last transmission, I'm updating the post for him to set up training between candidates. Here is the link to the old OOC post regarding this. This is for mind blocking training, armed and unarmed combat, and medical training.

The current training groups are listed here.

I was told by mod Wizera when I started this that the training results would be determined between the player and the teacher. So for instance, I want Ben to be able to block them for the most part. So he was trained by Glinda. Now, because I want it to be effective, I personally won't let Ben participate in optional plots that are caused from the Nysgods getting something out of his head.

So from the group that was set up with trainers last time: make sure you have figured out if you actually learned or not and how that will effect you as a player and in plots, and have fun with it!

Anyone who feels confident in being added to the teachers side, comment below and we can hand-wave your character coming up to Ben and being like "I think I got this down, so if I can help show it to someone else, let me know".

And then don't be surprised when random new person is like "Hey, Ben told me you could show me this..." *grin*

I'm also an evil person and will try and send people off to get trained by someone I don't see them having CR with just so you can play with someone new.

Same goes for the weapons training. Once I have you matched, you're on your own now for setting up training locations in Gebo. So if you haven't outright asked Ben in the previous post but want to get set up, just let me know and we can handwave the request for training IC and I'll add you to the list.

OOC: Candidate Toy Roundup

Alright, guys - I'll make it simple. Over the next few days Ben will be coming to talk to candidates one on one, in person, about toys that have been left behind when some candidates leave. I'm handwaving these just because I'm trying to keep my inbox to something that resembles manageable.

Anyway, he basically will convey a few things to everyone (since he doesn't know who all has toys or not) that include:

They are trying to work to find a relationship between the people and the toys left behind
They are hoping that this may create a pattern that can be used for some reason
Hopefully seeing if there are any clues we have missed in an overall purpose
He needs some information, and the toys themselves, about the people including who the toy was for, around when they disappeared, and if they think there is a significance to the type of toy that had been left.
If you want the toy back after, let him know and he can get it returned in a few days.

He will not be revealing to anyone that it's Dr. Rush working on this, and will direct any questions to be asked to him.

For me and Rush!Mun, if you have a toy, could you fill this out for me? Also, if your character would have any questions, let me know and I'll answer it.

Remember, this is only player knowledge, not OOC knowledge. I know the mods have more info on this than we do, but it's for Rush's assignment from Ben.

Othala High Plot

Nelson is a temple-inhabiting Nysgod who has been studying Earth culture, due to all the Earthens that are currently in the temple. This has involved watching a lot of movies and television.

Unfortunately, Nelson also keeps a sprite as an assistant (sprites are very good research assistants, as it turns out). This little sprite has a bit of a mischievous temperament, and has taken a liking to all these movies that Nelson's been watching--particularly any that have to do with the mystical land of High School. High School seems to be all about love and fun and zany adventures, after all. Why would anyone want to leave?

So the sprite decides to help out and create Othala High. On Day 171 (August 21-23), she'll escape the research lab and begin flying around the temple to whisper spells in candidate's ears. As soon as the spell is heard, a person will revert back to their sixteen year old mindset. They'll still be in the same body, but will think they're sixteen again. They'll have no idea where they are, who everyone is, or possibly why they're not in Fourth Period anymore.

On Day 172, Nelson will manage to get the truth out of the penitent sprite and put together a potion to reverse the spell. Once the potion is ingested, the characters will remember who they are and everything that happened.

As always, this plot is voluntary and characters can choose not to be affected. The sprite can't hit everyone, after all.

Temple Medical Clinic

Hey, guys! So after a couple of discussions with Marcus, Christine really wants to see if they can get a clinic going in the Temple. This is a clinic for the candidates, run by the candidates, though all their supplies will have to come from the Nysgods so if your character is totally against Nysgod interference, they'll have to bandage themselves up!

After checking with the mods, I've gotten the go ahead for Christine to be given a room in the Temple that stays stationary to be the base of operations. The Nysgods will also provide all the supplies, but most importantly there will be a place to store blood so this can be really beneficial to the vampires in game. I ran a blood bank sort of deal in another game once with Christine, so I know that refrigerated blood doesn't last long, so candidates would need to rotate their donations so they aren't donating too often but there's still a supply ~~or we could just drain Ming; there's an idea, huh?~~

So yes. Christine knows Marcus and House are doctors, and Ming's a healer. Beyond that, she's not sure who has the medical experience, which is why when she makes an announcement about starting the clinic, she'll ask for volunteers. *coughDr.MarthaJonescough*

Festival!

So Ming, Kurt, Seth, and Blaine are working on a festival. There is going to be some tournament games, a fashion show, talent show, and a dance.

Kurt has put around the temple sign up sheets to see who is interested in these events and participating in the shows.

I've been talking with Seth's mun and we're thinking maybe sometime at the end of the month will be a good time to run this. I'm wanting some feedback though. I'm looking for OOC/ IC interest, dates that would work well, and anything else that would be useful in this situation.

If IC we can handwave a conversation about it, or we can set up a network thread- however we want to do it.

How does Day 175/176 sound? There could be games going on both days and the fashion show on the first day, talent show the second, and then that evening could be the dance? Or we could add 177 for the dance.

Quick Role Call - Mind Blocking Stuffs

Okay, just because I know Ben will have it all written down somewhere, so I need to know too LOL

Ben is starting to send out more newcomers to get trained on mind blocking. Here is the link to the old OOC post regarding this.

Plotting for a Physical Changes event

Hey everyone! So once upon a time I had a silly little idea. Seeing as how my PB for Christine here used to have red hair, I wanted to create a situation where her hair turned red overnight. But that was all I had, really. I couldn't think of what to do beyond have her and others react to that.

So then I figured this should be opened up to the rest of the player base as a player plot! Here's my idea: Your character opens one of the Temple doors to discover a garden. It's crammed full of every size, shape, and color of flower imaginable. Now if your character is the type to stop and smell a flower, that's all it takes. Your character will inhale pollen and be affected. If they aren't flower smellers, just touching the flower's petals or stem will do.

How are they affected? By having something about their physical body change. They'll have blue hair, green skin, fins instead of feet, spikes along their spine (or as the lovely Cat suggested: burp bubbles or fart rainbows). The only caveat is that these changes don't happen immediately. It takes overnight so that the next morning there is something different. This will stop characters from knowing immediately that the flowers did it.

So then we can have fun with it! Link pics, upload icons/put icons in your comments with their new look (I know I will be), or just go to town describing them. You can have your character sniff/touch multiple flowers and have multiple changes to themselves. As for how it ends, I'm thinking to make it easy, there's a flower that will change everything back to the "default setting" so to speak. It would be a plain, small flower hidden somewhere in the garden that would reverse the changes immediately. You can play it out as long as you like. For me, I think it'll only be a few days since this game runs on 3:1 time, but whoever discovers the flower that'll set things right first can alert the others and your character can touch it whenever. If they want to change back, that is. ;)

Anyway, I figure we could start on Day 158 (that's this Saturday) to give you guys time to bounce around ideas? Sound good?

Mirror plotting

So, I signed Mary up to be mirror universed. Since she spends her whole life protecting people and making sure that they stay alive when there are people out to kill them, I decided it would be fun to make her the indiscriminate killer.

Anyone want a character really beaten up on or killed (I'm game with death not happening... really. It would save the real Mary's brain.) Or someone want to notice and try to find a way to prevent her?

Mirror Universe Plot (Days 143-145)

It begins with something simple. Someone’s researching away in a lab, as they are wont to do. With a rather magical piece of advanced technology. And something goes... awry. There is an explosion; but not the usual sort of destructive explosion. No, this is an explosion of space-time, fairly small and contained, but still far-reaching enough to do some damage.

And that damage is done to the neighbouring room of mists. Something shifts there, and a wormhole opens; the explosion also temporarily causes the room to exist in multiple places in the temple at once (to enable multiple characters to find it). A handful of people find said room in their wanderings, there’s a flash of light as they walk deeper into the mists and POOF! Hello Mirror Universe. Or Original Universe, in the case of the Mirror Universe counterparts.

The originals are stuck in the Mirror Universe and vice versa until folks figure out how to switch back. Which is remarkably simple, in the end. Just get all Mirror Universe counterparts into the room of mists at one time. The trouble comes in trying to find the room again, and then gathering all the Mirror counterparts in that one place at the same time.

[Edit for clarity] The plan is for most of the interaction to be the Mirror counterparts in the Original Universe. The originals will be seeing the Mirror Universe and all its counterparts and differences, and there are bound to be shenanigans while they're there, due to the nature of the Mirror Universe, of course.

This post is both for plotting and volunteering for your character to be Mirror Universe’d. I’ll start a sub-thread for each.

Quick Mod Fact-Finding Mission

Hello, players!

The mods are preparing for some upcoming metaplot shenanigans. However, we'd like to get a sense of some numbers. Don't worry if this seems mysterious, all will become clear in time. We'd just like all players to take a quick second to answer the following question:

Does your character ever sleep with their earpiece in?

There are three subthreads in this post. We ask that you reply for each of your characters with their individual journals, please. We're simply trying to get a sense of numbers right now. You can, of course, change your mind if the metaplot arises and you decide you'd rather be in a different group.

Goddess event - side plot!

So, for those of you who might or might not know this tiny Russian happens to be taking Sam Winchester her prisoner during the goddess plot. This is for pretty good reasons, relating to her past experiences with a different Sam Winchester in Bete Noire. (Which can be found here. Content Warning: Violence, sexual situations, and eventually murder!)

Until now she's just been outright avoiding the moose but with the goddess event, she's taking a little misplaced revenge on him.

On day 133, Pasha will be bringing her captive to the other goddesses and suggesting a hunt. And Sam's going to be their unwilling fox to chase. All are welcome to join in the hunt, ladies.

Training OOC Plotting - Team Assignments

Hey All!

Consider that during the afternoon, Ben circulated around the candidates and verbally told them who they were matched up with for training so that they can go find their teachers and set up their own schedules.

Since there are two people who know the Nysgod Blocking from the Dagaz school, and two who know a different style from their homeworlds, Ben teamed two teachers up with a group. That way it allowed them to be able to find a ways to work together to give everyone some kind of method to do this in case they can't make the "Nysgod" way work.

Obviously, it will be up to the mods who is able to really learn it, how long you need to train, etc, to make you really know how to do it.

Combat I stuck with a 1 on 1 match-up, except for a few double-ups just because there are more students that signed up than teachers.

Anyone who didn't talk to Ben in the IC thread or OOC signups, I took it that your character wasn't interested and didn't sign you up.

If you are NOT on the list and want to get training or train someone, hit up the old OOC post here and I can update it.

If you are ON the list and shouldn't be, let me know and I will take you off.

I tried to mix up the CR a bit so that you can hopefully get some new CR. Ben wouldn't know who's friends/enemies with who so if you don't like the match-up ~~deal with it~~ let me know and I'll see what I do.

Goddess Plot

The problem with having libraries full of books from all over the world is that you can’t be sure what information is contained within them. It’s even harder when the building shifts around and you can’t always keep track of how many libraries there even are.

Enter our latest plot.

One of the books in the libraries is entitled You are the Goddess. It is a beautiful book, bound in leather with gold leafing and intricate hand drawn illustrations.

The idea presented in the book is that all women are part of the goddess. Each goddess has her own garden where their strength and beauty and individuality grow. But then the men (the “fire bringers”) try to enter a goddess’ garden. If they’re allowed to do so, they’ll begin setting the garden ablaze.

All nice and symbolic and metaphorical and gender stereotyping, right? Except the book is also enchanted. When a woman reads it, she will then feel the urge to pass it on to other women, encouraging them to also read through it with fanatical praise (basically preteen girls first discovering Twilight). On and on it goes. The more women who read it, the stronger the spell is.

The first person reads it, and it seems like a good point. A few more people read it and they begin to snap at men and quote the book a lot. A few more and the women are warrior goddess, shutting themselves away and trying to attack any men who come close.

If a guy can get a hold of the book, the key to the spell is clear. A kiss is all you need to lift the spell. The problem? How do you get close enough to kiss one of them?

A few notes:

1. This is open to anyone who wants to play. You don’t have to, though! Your character can happily avoid the whole fiasco.
2. This is not related to metaplot. It’s just for funsies.
3. If your character identifies as female and reads the book, the spell will affect them. If they identify as male, the spell will not.
4. The kiss does not have to come from someone your character loves or even knows. Just someone who isn’t affected. Feel free to mack on a stranger for the sake of breaking her free from the spell (with mun permission, of course).
5. The mods obviously do not endorse any ideas presented within this plot. It’s just for funsies.

The currently proposed timeline is as follows:

Day 131 (starting April 23): The book is discovered and begins to get passed around.
Day 132 (starting April 26): The women begin to get snappish and are distancing themselves from the menfolk.
Day 133 (starting April 29): The women are basically Amazonian warriors.

Feel free to use this spot to ask questions, volunteer to be the first person to find the book, or just plot stuff out!

Training OOC Plotting

So Ben has taken it upon himself to get the candidates set up with training on both combat and Nysgod mind blocking. I figure whether or not you reply to this thread, want to be involved in the metaplot... this is a great chance to get your character trained in some skills that could be useful later on.

I'm going to make tags below, and you can use these to state what you want your character to learn, and what you're offering to teach. You can use it to perhaps make some new CR for "training" if nothing else.

There is also a questions/ideas thread. Because I have no idea what I'm doing really, so please offer suggestions if you have any!

Anyone down for Epic S**t?

Poshu (Cpt. Kirk) and I were thinking it would be cool to team together (and anyone who would be interested) to help save any of the candidates from rioters who are missing from the house.
This could include helping to gather any missing people and escort them to the meeting place... if there happens to be epic battles while doing this, then I guess I won't complain... (it's highly encouraged).
If there is anyone who would like to be rescued, please let us know. This goes too for anyone who would like to join us in finding anyone who volunteers to be rescued~

And then all hell broke loose...

Lord Jaan's made an announcement on the network. And the people of Thurisaz aren't too happy about it. Without the strong, central government of Dagaz to keep things under control, the confusion and anger quickly escalates, becoming a riot. Citizens are screaming at each other, everyone accusing someone else of being a "Dagaz spy." And the candidates are no exception to this. Your characters are being openly harassed and attacked on the streets. Many establishments that hired candidates are being looted and destroyed.

Things aren't pleasant, folks!

Throughout Day 122 and Day 123 (March 30-April4), the violence will escalate. On Day 122 (March 30-April 1), it will be mostly focused on the town itself, but starting on Day 123 (April 2-4), any place where a candidate lives is going to be targeted. Because some of the PCs recently fortified the house, the rioters won't be able to get inside immediately, but a large mob will be forming outside. Any candidate beyond the safety of the candidate house will find themselves being targeted. We will leave it up to you, as players, to decide what form of torment your characters receive.

FAQ:
What can happen to my character?
There won't be any actual killing. And since Thurisaz is such a disorganized mess, no one is going to be taken into custody. But the sky is the limit, otherwise. Feel free to put your characters through any sort of torment you like.

What if my character doesn't live in the candidate house? Will they be safe?
The candidate house was fortified by some of the candidates. What sort of security or fortification your character's pad has is entirely up to you!

So is my character just getting caught up in all this or are they being specifically targeted?
The candidates ARE being specifically targeted by the second day of the riots, though your characters shouldn't really have any idea why.

If there's a mob forming outside of the candidate house, will I be able to get in or out?
Absolutely! But we're going to let you figure out how through whatever sort of role playing you like.

Can I kill random NPCs?
Yes. And you can scavenge any kind of weapon you like, as long as it's medieval-ish. In other words, no guns or flame throwers, but have all the broadswords and maces that you can carry.

What if I want to try escaping from Thurisaz?
The village has been completely sealed off. You'll only find angry villagers at the borders. You probably want to run. There are a lot more of them than there are of you.

Is this all leading up to something?
Yup! Stay tuned to the same Bat channel for more information about what will happen on Day 124 (April 5-7).

Will there be an event log for this?
Nope! We're going to let you make your own logs and network posts. As always, the mods encourage you to mix things up and to tag with new people and characters outside of your canons! You are also more than welcome to respond to Jaan's network post.

Fighting/chaos/torturing my character really isn't my thing. Do I have to participate?
Absolutely not. This part of the metaplot event is optional and, if you don't want to participate, you can say your character hunkered down somewhere. Keep in mind, however, that this is only the first part of the event. There will be further developments.

This sounds fun! I want to start right away. Can I forward-date?

Diana Wins at Poor Life Choices

First of all, this is not a mod post. This is strictly some PC versus PC plotting, so if you have no interest in what's going on, feel free to ignore this and go on your merry way. I'll wait.

Are they gone?

Okay, so. Diana is the queen of bad decisions. In her haste to try to protect Ben from Lucifer, she's gone out and put herself in the line of fire. Without a plan and not entirely aware of what she's up against. This is ending poorly for her. Namely because Lucifer is going to rip her arm off (literally) and beat her with it. Castiel will be finding her all armless, in an alley.

The good news? Cainites can regrow their arms! The bad news? It's going to require a massive amount of blood. More than any one person could safely donate. So this post is really looking for characters who would volunteer their blood. Specifically human characters, since Diana isn't going to drink from anyone she knows isn't human. That tends to end poorly. There's also a fun bonus because Diana's bite comes with a neat side-effect. Orgasms! That's right. A vampire bite from the world of Vampire: The Masquerade will make you really happy.

So. That's about it. I'll put up an open log of some sort for this. Any part of involvement can also be handwaved. Comment below if you're interested in getting involved!

Let's go rescue a complete stranger who might or might not need our help!

So yes, given Glinda's taken it on herself to rally the troops I thought it best to set up a plotting post.

The basic plan at the moment is to steal the woman and replace her with a Scarecrow, take her to the candidate house and disguise her, notify Edwin/someone in Dagaz of what's happening and barracade the house until they get there.

Ideas/input/how to carry it out are all welcome!

Mini-Quest!!!

Due to the actions of certain PCs (*cough* Dean Winchester *cough*), a new mini-quest is going to begin on Day 110. Skokan is sending Dean on a mission to find out who Lord Jaan's contact in the outside world is. Unfortunately, since the Grasp won't let anyone leave, Dean and his team (Castiel and a very, very unwanted House) are going to be astral projected into the bodies of three unwitting victims.

Hilarity will ensue, but I (hi, Wizera's running this one) don't want to give too much away. I will, however, ask the players to provide me with two pieces of information:

1. Preferred gender of the body your character gets tossed into;
2. Please provide me with a picture of a thoroughly outrageous, medieval weapon (sword, axe, whip, lance, etc.) that you would like your character to have

The bodies will also possess magical powers, but those will be assigned randomly when the quest begins.

In terms of game time, the three ~~Stooges~~ of them will be astral projecting for eight hours. Their bodies, however, will still be in the candidate house. If anyone would like to stumble upon them, you can plot with the muns here in this post. Medical tests will reveal that they are comatose. Anyone using magic to examine them will find that their bodies seem to be soulless and in an enchanted sleep. And no, kissing them won't wake them up. Apologies to anyone who wanted to get touched by an angel.
